Either way, I would have to downgrade.

I don't want to deal with that process, so I will wait until a Wad manager compatible with 4.0 is released. I'm patient.

You don't have to downgrade your System Menu

Do not try this if you have one of the new LU64 Wiis!

Download this pack

Unrar the pack.

Rename "IOS35downgrade.dol" to "boot.dol" and copy it to your SD card under apps/DVDx

Rename "WadManager1.4.dol" to "boot.dol" and copy it to your SD card under apps/WADManager

Copy the "wad" folder to the root of your SD card

Put the SD card in your Wii, and start the Homebrew Channel..

Launch DVDx and choose "downgrade IOS35"

After that is done, exit back to the Homebrew Channel

Launch WADManager

Choose all the default settings and install "IOS35.wad"

Exit to the Homebrew Channel and and launch WADManager again.

When it asks you which IOS to use, choose IOS35

Install CIOSv7.wad

If you want, you can update to CIOS Rev 10:
http://teknoconsolas.es/blog/waninkoko/custom-ios36-rev-10

Now you should be able to install wads on 4.0
This worked perfect for me! Now if I want to install the rev 10 CIOS. Do I need to uninstall CIOSv7.wad first?

If I want to install cIOS Rev10 instead of cIOS Rev7, do I just replace the cIOSv7.wad in the "wad" folder, with a cIOS Rev10 WAD and then just follow the guide posted above exactly as it is? I have a SDHC card so I have install cIOS Rev10

Nope, it will be overwritten.

Sure, you could do that.

Or you can just run the regular CIOS Rev 10 installer after installing the Rev 7 wad.
The installer will run off of CIOS Rev 7 so it can upgrade to Rev 10

why install IOS35 after downgrading it?

the point of downgrading it is so it'll have the trucha bug, and so i dont see a point in installing another IOS35 with the trucha bug over the top of that lol.

EDIT: also, what is the BUL3g.wad in that guide?

To install cIOS Rev10, won't I have to install IOS36.wad instead of IOS35.wad?

Comex's DVDx installer doesn't actually downgrade IOS35.
It just makes the version number lower, so it will think that you're upgrading when you install the trucha-bugged version with Wad Manager,

I think BUL3g.wad is a Backup Launcher 0.3 Gamma channel

No, IOS36.wad won't install because you already have a newer version of it.

Thanks for the quick guide, but I have a problem. For this you need DVDx I presume. However I cannot install DVDX it comes up with error messages.

Using the homebrew browser there is a dvdx for wii 3.4, but I have 4.0, so how can I install DVDX on my wii?

The DVDx launch causes a nice "You are a pirate" message across the screen on my system.

I did clean it with Shared2Clean before and I have HBC installed.

This is 4.0E, LEH218*

I followed these steps and got an error at the "downgrade IOS35" in DVDx. If I retry it, it won't repeat the same error and says something along the lines of "This title is already installed".

Any suggestions?

Edited to add: I am using a 4.0u Wii, and I've already installed DVDx, HBC, and Bootmii using Bannerbomb.
