Last night I was trying to download my firmware to 4.2 using dop-mii. I had downgraded some IOS subs, I think that is what they are called. I then proceeded to downgrade the firmware version t0 4.0 from NUS servers.

It downloaded fine but when I went to apply it came up with an error. Then proceeded to dump the hex to the screen. I then rebooted and all I got was a black screen. I do not have a NAND backup since I could not even load bootmi into boot2 i could only run it from IOS. Since my wii is to new.

I also do not currently have a modchip, or even a gamecube controller. I would get a gamecube controller if everyone is confident that could fix this without a modchip.

Let me know if anyone has any ideas.

$35 for a second hand unit cheapest and easiest way out. I'm not being smart just that by the time you muck around with it buying GC controllers and chips you could have a functional unit for less than half the price!

I was also reading that since, I removed the system menus I could send it back to Nintendo. They would not know I hacked the wii since it is missing core system menus.

Just did not know if there are any other options. Thanks for the tip :)

Crap scratched that, just checked on Nintendo's site I am not in warranty and they are going to charge me 75 for a new unit :(

Darn..

I never got that far :(.. mine is new so i not sure i would of been able to load prilloader into boot 2.

I was mostly loading from an sdcard.. I did get the homebrew channel installed with letterbomb. But now i can't get to they system menu..

Well, by the sounds of it, your wii is fucked. You could have made a NAND backup with bootmii IOS and that could have been something that I could have used to save your wii. Next time use ModMii.

It does flash blue once on boot, so i know i have bootmi in ios.. but i do not think that will help me

DeadlyFoez

Could I reprogram the NAND if i had a modchip or some other way to reprogram it?

Just curious. I should of stopped when i had homebrew installed.

What if I got a gamecube controller.

There must be some way to fix it right? I just can't see giving nintendo 75 dollars if i can get a used wii for 50 or less

So...

No backup?
No bootmii?
No system menu?

Hm i don't know how to resolve this for you. My only advice would be get a new unit from amazon or ebay or something like that.

Sorry I couldn't be of assistance to you.

no bootmi since the system is to new and I only have the choice of ios. I did not make a NAND backup before this happened.

I was trying to downgrade the firmware though dop-mii. It downloaded fine from NUS servers.. When applying the firmware it errored..

Then i got a hex dump.. Now when i reboot I just get a black screen. Though the blue led flashes once on boot.

This may be a odd thing to try but what the hell, no harm in trying.

Do you have an SD card plugged into your Wii when you turn it on?

If so, take it out then turn it on and see if anything happens.

Something happened to me once and I did this and it came on for me.

already tried that no difference.. I tried a million things before even posting to the forum.

Would a gamecube controller help. I did install some of the various IOS files before bricking my system

I been reading you can take it apart.. and someone hit all the drectionals at the same time.. and then it will load into some matiance mode. Then you can try to load a autoboot disks from there.

It bypasses it trying to load the missing system menus up

savemiifrii

Get a gamecube controller and take it apart and plug it into port #4 and then press all four directional buttons down while turning on the wii.
If it worked correctly you should see the system menu version in the lower right hand corner. At this point you should be able to insert a retail disc
that has a higher system menu update then what your currently at and it should update the wii for you.

Just google savemiifrii or look it up on youtube for videos on how it works.

Thanks icebrg5,

This is the information I been looking for all day :)... I just need to get to gamestop to buy a gamecube controller.

I am guessing any disks like super mario bros wii would work? As long as my frimware does not still show 4.2.

If it is 4.2 I am screwed right?
