Hacking HELP - I AM LOSING THE WILL

Hi

Never used an Nintendo before (I know crazy) or an R4 card and I'm going on holiday so wanted a few pokemon games

Thought it was be a simple process after doing a bit of research and watching some tutorials but this is frying my brain

I bought a R4I SDHC 3DS RTS CARD from Stargate & I bought a NEW 3DS XL which is running version 11.6.0-39E

I formatted a 32GB Kingston SD Card and put the latest Kernal file on it from r4i-sdhc

It does say on there supporting up to V11.1.0-34, so I'm under the impress my R4 card doesn't support this version

The R4 card boots up fine but it won't load any games and if I press start I get an error code: errcode=81 errcode=83

Is there a way around having the 11.6.0-39E, i.e. downgrading the software or I have read about installing certain boots??

Any help would be appreciate, there is a lot of info out there but unless you are clued up and have experience using R4 card/boots before then it's very confusing

If that is the card you have then it does support the latest firmware. You must have the wrong kernal or an incompatible one.

What are you trying to do? That card can not run 3DS games, I hope you know that. It only supports original DS games.

Yes I want to play some of the newer ones, so I can't play Pokemon X on it for example ?!

No, you can't. That is a flashcard that runs on 3ds, but only runs ds games and ds homebrew. Nothing 3ds related. But I'm pretty sure that card should support ntrboot thus allowing you to hack your 3ds with cfw which will allow you to install 3ds games. Check www.3ds.guide on how to do that.

no, the R4 cards are only for Nintendo DS titles. To play 3DS titles you need to install a CFW, you can then use freeshop or sideload .cia installable 3ds titles.

its not that hard, its actually easy once you start, basically copy stuff to here, and follow screen instructions
the hard part i believe is setting up the r4 card

I was under the impress that they come ready to go, it just the SD card you got to do the work on

The guide is lengthy but it's really rather simple, most of the guide is just downloading and copying files.

you need to put the OS in the sd card if you want to use it as a NDS flashcart (plays nds games and nds homebrew) or even make it work practically.

you probably will be able to use that r4 to install cfw using that guide (see the pictures and compatible list in the card)
you need to flash that card, and during the time it's flashed you can't use it to play nds games, however after doing the guide you will be able to restore the card back to its NDS function
after the guide is done, you don't need that r4, only if you want to play NDS games
3ds games will be installed to the console internal sd card and will appear as normal legit games
(you will have to install them tough, depending how you want, you can use a freeshop or install .cia files, doesn't matter, but that is talk for after the guide)

exactly, after the guide you won't even need that card anymore if you don't intend to play NDS games
that card can't play 3DS games either way. you can very likely flash it and use it to mod your console if you do the guide, just need to check if its compatible in the guide page
you can play pokemon games up to black and white with it

btw, check if your card is from r4ids.cn (it should be printed in the cart the website, the website is that one, not another) if it is the newest version of this site, there is a switch inside to change it from normal nds cart, into ntrboot to mod your console (no need to flash the cart if there is this switch)

You need the card to do the install, after that you only need it if you want to play DS games.
