Homebrew Help homebrewing a 3ds for the first time

I'm following the guide on 3ds.guide and I'm following the instructions for flashing ntrboot with a flashcart. I've copied the ak2i_ntrcardhax_flasher_dsi.nds file to the sd card, put the card in the flashcart, and put the cart in my 3ds. A game symbol pops up on the homescreen in japanese and the icon has a little dude with a "Q" over his head. I launch that, the screen goes black, then white, then black again and nothing happens. Can you play regular DS games using your flashcart?

Okay, I used a different guide and was able to get it installed. So now I have the tile for hblauncher_loader v1.3 and the luma3ds updater but I can't seem to find a save export program that will work with PKHEX. can anyone provide me with a good one?
