So I recently pulled out my DS Lite from my drawer and wanted to play on my R4. It is an R4 SDHC Gold Pro 2018 version. When I started up my DS, it locked up on the health and safety screen. I thought my DS did not work because of the long time of no use, but it does work. I inserted Mario 64 into it and worked perfectly no lock ups. I also tried Bowser's inside story and it worked. I updated the r4 firmware to v4.0 and still gives the same error. Is there a fix to this?

Hello.:)

Did you checked your SD Card of errors or rather of it works correctly ?

Maybe a Contact issue with the Slot and your Flashcard after that long time of "not in use".
please check the Contacts of the Flashcart of maybe dirt or corrosion.

I use an old R4iTT for my DS Lite and had maybe something similar:

- sometimes it would not be recognized
- sometimes the Screen on boot up stays white
- sometimes it freezes when loading the YSMenu.

I cleaned the contacts and the Card Slot on the DS but the issues stays.
Then I tried something little "unconventional":

PLEASE BE CAREFUL of doing it to MUCH/HARD and your FLASHCARD or DS could be damaged !!!!

I very, very careful and gently "pushed/pulled" the inserted Flashcard back and forth in the shaft and since then the Flashcard works without that issues.

Good luck.
Thank :)you.

Okay so i tried and it still doesn't work. I tried the paper trick and I cleaned the contacts on both the DS and r4. I think it is just the r4 itself because other games work fine.

Please check the Start Up/AUTO BOOT/START option is OFF/set to MANUAL in the DS Lite settings !:)

Have you checked your Nintendo DS internal Clock?
Some R4's stop working after a certain year has been reached.
Try changing your DS Internal Clock (the year) to 2014 or 2016 and check if it works.

When I have the R4 inserted regardless if it has a micro SD card it freezes in the exact same screen in the video :(

I guess your DS Lite is NOT flashed with FLASHME.

Then it is your Flashcard.
Do you have the Chance to try it on an other DS Lite/DSi ?

Maybe your R4 is flashed with an "non fitting" Firmware ? :(

This flashcart has a history of being used in ntrboothax about 4 times. I did it on a new 2ds. And three different 2ds'. I remember restoring the cart after performing each ntrboothax. I will try it in one of those 2ds' I have laying around somewhere.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Looks like the card isn't being read by the DS Lite ir the 2ds.

Quote from 3DS Hacks Guide:

Note that in some rare circumstances, it may be possible for the flashing process to brick a counterfeit flashcart and render it permanently unusable. This is unlikely, but nevertheless only original listed flashcarts are supported. To reduce the chance of receiving a counterfeit card, it is recommended that you use a reputable site to buy your flashcart (such as NDS Card)

Did you follow the EXACTLY STEPS ?

Section V - Removing ntrboot
What You Need
  • The latest release of ntrboot_flasher
  • The flashrom backup corresponding to your flashcart
    • Note that if you followed Flashing ntrboot (3DS Multi System), the flashrom backup already exists in the correct location and does not need to be downloaded
    • Note that if you followed Flashing ntrboot (3DS Single System) or Flashing ntrboot (NDS), the flashrom backup already exists on your flashcart’s SD card and should be copied to the location specified below
    • If you do not know which HW revision you have, just try each for your cart of them. Only the correct one will allow your flashcart to launch properly from home menu, but flashing the wrong one will not brick the cart

Instructions
  1. Power off your device
  2. Insert your SD card into your computer
    • This is the SD card from your 3DS, not the SD card from your flashcart
  3. Create a folder named ntrboot on the root of your SD card
  4. Copy the .bin file from your flashrom backup .zip to the /ntrboot/ folder on the root of your SD card
  5. Create a folder named payloads in the luma folder on your SD card
  6. Copy ntrboot_flasher.firm to the /luma/payloads/ folder on your SD card
  7. Reinsert your SD card into your device
  8. Insert your ntrboot compatible DS / DSi flashcart into your device
  9. Launch ntrboot_flasher by holding (Start) during boot
  10. Read the red screen warning
  11. Press (A) to continue
  12. Select your flashcart
    • If you do not see your flashcart in the list at the top, read the bottom screen for more info on each option
  13. Select “Restore Flash”
  14. Press (A) to proceed
  15. Wait until the process is completed
  16. Press (A) to return to the main menu
  17. Press (B) to power off your device

Yeah. I remember restoring the flash after doing it for the last time. I'm not sure it is probably because I haven't used it for almost 6 months.
