Correct.dude, thank you for all the info, I had no idea. So the sata adapter is the best way to go if playing games from a drive, right?
You can, but it's the worst way to load ps2 games, mainly because of the dreadful usb 1.1 speeds you'll have stutters in fmvs, longer loading times, game compatibility issues to name a few..The usb ports in the front of the console would not be able to run games from a flash drive, for example?
There are two other methods i haven't mentioned, but they're still inferior to internal hdd imo. There's SMB via ethernet, you basically stream games from your pc, or s raspberry pie even. 2nd is MX4SIO, which is a ps2 memory card modified in a way so you can plug in either an sd or micro sd card to load your games. Mx4sio is better than the usb method, as there's no stutters on fmvs and even loading times are better. game compatibility is still an on going process tho, since this method is still new, you'll def run into issues with games etc and it does require some tinkering, constantly trying/testing other OPL versions etc. so i wouldn't recommend it for beginners, and that's why the internal hdd/sata method ks the best
