Please reply simply by confirming whether you have successfully completed Heart Gold / Soul Silver and utilized it's wifi without any black screens/save corruptions/spontaneous freezes impeding your progress or not.

I believe Wii connectivity with HGSS was fixed in one of the AKAIO 1.6 releases which means as long as you are running the latest AKAIO 1.7 release, you should perfectly fine.
