I think someone already did, because I`m using my Wii for quiet some time now as a media player...

I hook up a HDD 1TB with the latest GeeXbox on my Wii and I watch so many movies, series and other things with it. I think that was possibil, because they`ve unlocked 1.1 software-barrier and now the software uses the 2.0...

But I´m not 100% sure, but before the last release they were just able to read music at full speed because of the "1.1 software-barrier" so I assume they got rid of it...

It is still locked at 1.1. Videos play alright but that would be too slow if you wanted to play a game.
