HD wii? Potential wii capability hidden?Or nintendo can't type

Sonic 4 is headed to the Wii as a Nintendo WiiWare download this Summer, and while we had a large idea of what to expect, there’s another large/impossible surprise according to Nintendo’s official site. Sonic 4: Episode 1 will be “full HD”, a quite remarkable feat for Ninty’s white box. Some mistake, surely?


The Sonic 4 page on Nintendo Of America’s site has been updated with new stills and a few new advertised specs, and while most of them tell us nothing new (“2D adventure”, “classic Sonic gameplay”), its claim that Sonic 4 will be in “full HD resolution” is a head turner. The last time we checked, the Nintendo Wii was only capable of 480p or 576i graphics, about a quarter of the resolution of full HD 1080p.

We suspect Nintendo will amend the Sonic 4 page at some point rather than bring out a whole new Wii to prove us wrong, but if you’re torn about what console to get the eagerly awaited game on (and it could be coming to iPhone too), know that only the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions will give you the cripser graphics your eyes are yearning for.

I say HD is enough for now, I see no need for 1080p (Full HD), also not a problem 720p on the Wii due to the amount of eDRAM memory and headed into the possible use of compression technology S3TC that use more than Gamecube.

That´s so cool!

Wii is a console with a unknown capacity but no more powerful than PS3

That is completely different, it just upscales games to 1080p, Sonic 4 is going to start off at HD, not be upscaled to it.

Also you haven't told us why you are using Internet Explorer
