So, I know how PS2 emulation in PS3 works, with some games running with slight bugs, some with hiccups or straight up not running.
Has someone worked in improving this emulator or is it still the same now?

@MrCokeacola It's not emulated then though and it won't last unless you risk a delid.
PCSX2 didn't improve noticeably in the last years, still doesn't run well at 4k and strange artifacts like in Valkyrie Profile 2 aren't resolved, 32-Bit only and there are a lot of hacks to get things running.
Play! PS2 Emu is a new emulator that aims for multi-platform compatibility, HLE and vulkan but still runs too slow to be an alternative.
With the interest of the retroarch community in the project it could maybe improve at a faster pace.

Sony is the one responsible for updating their emulators, and they haven't in the last couple of years

When it comes to ps2_netemu (the full software emulator used on PS2 digital titles, HEN, and Cobra CFWs on consoles without PS2 hardware) some patches/hacks can be applied to games via "config files" that may improve compatibility, but their creation goes slowly as they're basically made with trial and error (most of their features and effects are not documented)

Of course, the best system to play PS2 games on is an actual PS2 (not a CECH-A/B, which is still fractionally inferior in compatibility and greatly inferior in power efficiency) :)
