I'm looking for a homebrew tool that will let me display one static image on the Switch and to have it essentially converted to an NRO file. What I'm trying to do is have an app that once opened will just display one static image (a whole album would be pretty cool but I'm just looking for one) my goal would be to have a few icons on my home screen or in The Homebrew app that will house specific wallpapers and other images.

If I understand what you're asking for correctly this app should work. This is rushed because I'm busy so someone else could probably make something better but if you open this app it will display a file with the same name as the nro but with .jpg on the end (Even if the file is really a png). A example would be PictureFrameNX.nro.jpg or MyCustomPicture.nro.jpg. Press plus to exit.
Edit: Also the image goes in the same folder as the nro

I like where the OP is coming from, and Comp did great to push something out so quickly, but instead of an app we have to launch ourselves would it be possible to turn this into a screensaver sysmod?

On a semi-related note I have been wondering how much wear not allowing the switch enter sleep mode puts on the thing. Like is there any reason for me not to set "auto-sleep" to never?

It would be possible but you would need to hook the sleep function and I'm not sure how to do that. I can't remember who did it but someone in AtlasNX dev chat made a sysmodule that displays a UI over the top of anything running in the background (It's separate the the overlay applet so it doesn't interfere) so you could do it the same way as that but only have it draw the UI after the sleep function is called and instead of a UI you'd draw the image. I thought about doing it but with a clock instead of images but I decided that there wasn't much point since the home menu and overlay applet have clocks anyway.

Are you talking about the Layoff gui?
