Hi guys!

I've been trying to upgrade my R4i Gold 3DS RTS card for my 3DS console with the new update patch labelled as "R4iGold_3DS60_Patch_NDSi_3DS.nds". I also have the 1.60 wood kernal on my root directory however I have been receiving the card check fail when I try to update it on my friend's NDS XL ver. 1.4.3A. I have tried removing the cartridge and reinserting to no avail.

Does anyone know a fix for this problem?

Many thanks!

Jack

Sure, you got several options to choose from:

1. Do absolutely nothing about it.
2. Get a flashcart that doesn't have R4 in it's name.
3. Stop updating your 3DS.

Wither you heed any advice or not is up to you. Personally I would tell you do #3, but your in this position because you updated your 3DS.

To be more specific, if your cart is an earlier model there's no update for it. Look at the back, there should be a letter or number above the pins on the right. If it's 8 or below your cart stopped getting firmware updates a few versions ago.

The letter is C.

Cut your losses with the R4 (R4-SDHC team especially) carts, DSTwo is sooooooooooooooo much less complicated down the road.

I was thinking of getting the DS two but I read some posts that the CPU chip inside the DS two could drain my battery so I opted for the R4.

If the patch download had two versions, try the other?

I have, it comes up with the same error. :(

Yea it could and does but the Battery drain inside the DSTwo is so minimal its not even a factor. If u got 4 hours off a charge, u would get 3:50 with the DSTwo (estimating)

Yeah I wasn't really too impressed when I bought my 3DS a month ago, the battery life is terrible even with my discount. I wanted to conserve the battery as much as I could.
