Hardware Hard drive enclosure

Hi I bought two of these https://www.inateck.com/inateck-usb-3-0-2-5-portable-hdd-enclosure-3port-usb-3-0-hub.html because i read a post here where a guy said he uses one on his wii u.

I can't get my 60gb drive to be recognised by the wii u. I use an external power supply.

I don't want to use a Y cable as am afraid it might damage the drive or wii u ports.

Any idea on how to get this to work, is any person also using this.

Read a post in the Wii u forum where a guy was recommended not to use them and another guy claiming he has seen a lot of fried usb ports because of it.

This is rubbish, I've never heard anything like this and my drive runs just fine
