Since HANS is open sourced now, could it be possible to modify it to allow it to bootup into DS mode in order to play DS cartridges?

I have menuhax installed, and would love to be able to boot both 3DS games and DS games in the menu without having to switch to the normal home menu.

Rofl nothing's going to happen. This happened before when hax 2.1 source code was released. You guys are not going to get kernel from this and you will not be able to pirate games. Remember when smea released 2.1 source? LOL That was fucking hiliarious. You guys were like "OMG KERNEL 9.3+ KERNEL 9.3+ KERNEL9.3+ 1#!@321321321321" and in the end nothing happened. You guys are fools if you think smea is gimping his releases.

he didn't release 2.1 or 2.0 source and i agree this will unlikely give us a kernel exploit if any.
but there is no perfect system there is going to be a kernel exploit or some other exploit.

I actually can wait to see what homebrew would be based on hans
Hans is certainly a master piece of the 3ds scene, you can do really cool things with his features.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

However, hans's source code isn't a proof of Smea isn't hide anything, in order to run Hans properly, it needs 2.5 payload, and there isn't hax 2.5 sourse code. Probably his is still hiding some things to us.

People have modified the system settings. I'm sure modifying something like this with permissions could lead to something?

as some people said, smea dont free this code without secure it wont be use for piracy...so something he must change for this source dont work as we know it has to

greetings

Once again, no retail apps have the ability to install or remove system apps. eShop does all it's business by feeding nim a valid ticket and then nim does the installing iirc. No, you can't alter this to downgrade, because you'd need to remove system apps, which goes back to what I said before.

So... instead of a kernel patch, someone should be looking for a NIM patch?

:troll_emoji:

But, seriously:
I'm eager to see what the community can do with it. I guess the best thing we can realistically hope for (and it would already be amazing!) is the return of the eShop spoofing. And please, before February 27. Fingers crossed!
if you own a Gateway, eshop spoofing never went away. You can still use 3dnus to grab the latest Nver and install it, reboot, and use freemultipatcher to use e-shop. I actually installed the latest Nver, eshop, and mint on my N3ds, and it works fine on 9.5 emunand.

so my dreams for kernel 9.3< via hans collapse?
not that I believed it in the first place...

anything that can lead us to kernel exploit in the near future?

Just pray for it standing on one leg with a piece of lego under your foot. With balancing a gateway card on one finger and hoping that gateway team would find a solution soon. You can also recite the recent tweet by rxtools thrice every time you perform this sacred kernel exploit ritual.

Soon TM it will arise out of nowhere!
