Really thanks for your great info. I will try and investigate it later after I purchased a spare unit of mini.

    Another question

I had tried using mame2003 with arcade rom, however:

    1. The hakchi2 recognize it as archive and default running command line is "/bin/zip", I need to change to "/bin/mame2003" manually each time. How can I make change to hakchi2 that automatically change the command line to /bin/mame2003?

    2. When playing portrait games (like pacman galaxian etc) the preset ratio is not fully fit for me (either overscan or under scan), one of the method is I need to fine tune the pixel ratio setting manually, another method is I need to accept the over/under scan issue. Is any good idea to resolve this issue?

    1. You will have to change this manual everytime I think maybe someone else can give you a better answer.

    2. I will assume your running retro arch.. press start+select to get to the retro arch menu and you can change the screen resolution and size in there. just play with the different setting if you mess up anything just uninstall and reinstall retro arch.

For 2, I already did it by pressing start+select to change the scale. However, I tried 3:2 / 2:3 (I don't remember which one is ) is best for portrait game.
When Integer scale turn off, overscan on both top and bottom.
When Integer scale turn off, underscan and turn the playing screen too small

So on this moment I turn off the integer scale and let the screen overscan a bit.

Your comment is good and let me concern about dual boot.

I also used retroarch with downloaded modules from Cluster github (I think which nes core is same as you using - Nestopia) and get the nice result and tested the Lag is really acceptable (or un-detectable by my eye).

However, for SNES game that not supported by built in emulator, the only way is I change the command line to start the game with 9x module?

back to your original post question 2. there should be a custom option to allow you to change the x y alignment separate to give you the aspect ratio your looking for without having to use the predefined ratios. it may be under options I don't have my snesc availiable right now to give exacts.

and your last question about the 9x module your will need to install the snesx9 hmod and then on the snes game that is not working change the commandline above the image to bin/snes

Yes and I tried, but very hard to use
First need turn off integer scale
    Second need select custom scale
Final, need manually tune X and Y Startup position 1 by 1 (don't know how to change for 10 each step) which may not centre automatically, and fine tune the scale pixel also 1 by 1.......

So it is not reasonable for using.

That maybe the case I didn't try the eur system I only tested the Japanese. And with that 2 games will not work Zelda and Castlevania... They may would with retroarch I did not test as I already had them on the USA side so the priority was low.

Is it possible to mount the SNES Mini to a PC and go to a location (via FTP?) to see the box art used by the built-in games, and then replace the image files with new ones, safely?

Call me pedantic, but I'm from the UK and whilst I'm fine with the NTSC format of the games themselves, I find it crazy that Nintendo gave me:
    • PAL product packaging
    • PAL console shell
    • PAL controllers
    • even a PAL user interface (coloured logo in the top right corner, etc)...

but they forgot the cherry on the top of the cake - PAL box art for the games themselves! See attached image, I want my menu filled with that kind of eye candy... is it possible to do that without taking off the built-in games and re-adding them all myself just to change the box art?

the eu/us mini nes has both zelda and the castlevania 1 and 2 from factory in it and they works.
the eu version of the games are only in english.
and because that is no advantage to use the europe rom

If I add a game with an autoplay file on the Snes classic, and if later I uncheck the game, it will remove the game, but will it remove the autoplay file?
If no, how can I delete it? With the FTP function? But I don't know how to use it and don't want to bbreak my Snes.

    Step 1. Download hakchi2.
Step 2. Open hakchi2 (Choose SNES Classic if prompted).
Step 3. Connect your SNES Classic to the PC via USB.
Step 4. Dump your original kernel. Go to Kernel -> Dump kernel within hakchi2.
Step 5. Go to Tools and enable FTP Server ftp://root:[email protected]:1021.
Step 6. Download FileZilla (Or any other FTP client).
Step 7. Connect to your SNES Classic through FTP:

    Host: 127.0.0.1
    Username: root
    Password: clover
    Port: 1021

Step 8. Connected to your SNES Classic, find your installed SNES Classic games under: /usr/share/games/CLV-P-XXXXX
    Step 9. Replace images.

Edit: I'm not sure if you have to flash custom kernel to do this.

Does anyone here edit most/all of preset ID's of the SNES games? I'm using the current hakchi 2.21f, but I'm wondering if I should try to sync most of the games with DarkAkuma's preset id list.

It appears you have to flash custom kernel. That's quite easy. After you've dumped your original kernel (Step 4 in my miniguide), simply go to Kernel -> Flash custom kernel. Follow instructions and you can now connect through FTP. :)
