Okay that's pretty cool, I may add Kirby's Dream Land 3 to emulate that hi-res transparency effect :P

I'd assume if it's back to stock, it'd be hard for them to tell.

I wonder if Cluster can confirm if say something happens to their NES or SNES classic that they needed to have the warranty repair it. As long as we do the original Kernel dump and then factory restore the system the warranty won't be effected because it will look like nothing was modified or changed afterwords?

I soldered a second player 1 port inside my snes classic to put a retro receiver inside... I guess I'm fucked. Hahaha! I doubt anything would happen.

    Hilarious thing to do.

1.Apply the fx boost to Stunt Race FX
    2.Pick racing
    3.Pick the coupe
    4.FEEL THE SPEED!
(And also the sounds messed up doing this. But no matter: SPEED!)

I'm not talking about anything like soldering welding or anything crazy like that of course you're screwed warranty wise then. I'm only talking about Hakchi2's Kernel change only nothing drastic and crazy? If we revert it back to the original Kernel got rid of all the games we added and then factory restored the system would that make the warranty valid again since there would be no trace of Hakchi2 since it restored the Original Kernel?

No, as long as you backed up the kernel, all would be restored.

Messing around with some hacks and found the following don't work:

Chrono Trigger - Flames of Eternity - music plays but black screen
Chrono Trigger Prophet's Guild - music plays but black screen
Super Mario Kart 8 - freezes the console
The Legend of Zelda - Goddess of Wisdom - C7 error
    Yoshi's Island - Kamek's Revenge - freezes the console

Most other rom hacks seem to work great otherwise

There is no way to detect that your console was modified after "Uninstall" process.

    Are you sure ?

When testing the RC2,3,4,5 build, I was restoring the stock kernel, and then dumping and uploading the custom kernel with each new update.

What I noticed, was that the games were still on the system, once the custom kernel was installed.

So if it seems if you really want to return it to like stock, you first need to remove all the games you added, then flash the stock kernel back.

Good because that would be the only way I'd be willing to risk this because if it did void the warranty even after restoring everything to default that would not be good obviously. Never know if something out of the blue happens know what I mean? Thank you The_Randomizer and Cluster for the answer I'm looking forward to adding some of the titles that should have been!

Backed up and deleted the savestates I can no longer use (since when you re-add those 19/21 games it generates a new ID for each of them, so the savestates are still tied to the original games), nothing of value really lost.
I can always restore the original game and the original savestates if needed. (Not like I can't get back to stage A of Super Castlevania IV)

Got only two savestates atm now. One for pilotwings, and one for donkey kong country 2. Got 136/220 space used now without removing any of those 180 SNES/NES/GBC games either.
Plenty of room now for a good few saves here and there. I'd add some MD/Genesis games to test out but thats pretty blastphemous.
(Be funny to see if I could get a genesis classic controller though)

I just have one question. I'm almost positive that this is all safe, but with most of the talk on this board in the last few hours it is hard to tell.
I haven't hacked my SNESC yet. If I use the 2.20 release build of Hakchi2 what kind of bugs / problems could I run into and what are my chances of getting an unrecoverable brick?
I just want to cover everything before I make the plunge. I always wait for the bugs to be ironed out of a console hack before I use it, and I only use the "Idiot Proof" meatheads to be on the safe side.
I can usually follow the more advanced stuff when I need to though.

As long as you get past the first step and making a backup of the stock kernel, you're pretty much brick proof, there's always a slim chance but it's highly unlikely as long as you follow the steps one by one.

    Sounds good. :)
I'm not new to console hacking, but I always like to play it safe. Right now I have a hacked PSP, Vita, 3DS, and WiiU, and I'm looking forward to adding SNESC to that list. :D

You do realize your questioning the person who made hakchi program right?

Hakchi is very simple. It is already “idiot proof”

Just pinged him - I know for certain I'm missing an EUR release (md5sum known), but this isn't it.

That will do nothing but waste more space. Hiding games does not remove them from read-only flash.

Probably way to early to ask this but eh never know? has anyone tried the MSU1 BS Zelda with this? The one with the full experience finally available. That would be amazing if the RetroArch for this actually allows it to be played as intended since doesn't Retro Arch have the BSNES Core?
