Hacking Hacking a game's opening.bnr

I'm trying to edit the banner for Super Smash Bros. Brawl but it keeps turning out something like this:

I've tried everything, manually hexing it, using banner tools, I tried compressing with c.exe instead of gbalzss.exe, but i just can't get it to work
Does anybody have any suggestions

I think, it's a wrong compression mode. I remember we had a similiar topic some time ago... I'll look for it.

yeah, that was what i thought, that's why i tried using lz77 compression with c.exe instead of lzss with gbalzss, or is there another method that i haven't heard about

Nope. The thread I'm searching for had the same problem with the arrows left and right in the System Menu

Wait a second, c.exe is the same as ntcompress isn't it?
