I tried it. It compiles the CIA, and installing it on FBI goes to 100%, says successful, but the title doesn't appear on the main menu. I am not sure why. You can even run it from DevMenu and it works, just won't appear on the main menu.

Can't get it to compile, so I did a short mockup on everything I'd personally like to see out of this project. Realism be damned.
It's your project, have fun with it. Take what you want, ditch what you don't.
Tabs are important in IRC for managing pms and slow chats, as is a channel joining/leaving function. If you can get working channel switching and tabs for PMs I'd consider the client feature complete.
Profont is clearer than Arial on low resolution screens and completely free. Highly recommended for readability as well as conserving space.
Implement a daisy wheel on the bottom screen. I have one coded here, but you can probably do better. I'd suggest having the input display low on the screen , similar to how your keyboard is below the text too be input into the chat.
As far as layout goes, I believe you have every button needed for a daisy wheel free, while still allowing for a keyboard input on a toggle. Select could either be that toggle, or boot you to an options menu.
Unfortunately I haven't been able to get a proper screenshot, so I'm making this one out of somebodies theme post I found on google. The text on the top is done with the font I listed at the sizes I mentioned. The bottom was me getting irritated with gimp and doing a hack job on MS paint.

If you need someone to test the ssl stuff for you for you I can.i'm pretty sure i can find a way to do ssl.
