I dont know if i should buy this. I am going to Canada for about a week on thursday so i do want this game but i dont want to buy the game then find out that the DL version (I have an EZ Flash 5) will be able to have custom songs. What do you guys think i should do?

You will need to buy it anyway in order to get the guitar grip. there is no way to play the game without it. Of course, over the next few weeks and months, people will probably come out with patches that add songs or maybe even allow you to play with the control pad and buttons, but that is a ways off. So far, the game is pretty fun and worth the money. I'll have a full game and hardware review in next week's Temper Post.

Plus, there is already talk about another Guitar Hero:On Tour release around Christmas time, so that will add another game you can use the guitar grip for. I say, go for it!

It's still not dumped yet?
I have to wait for 18th of july damnit.
Then it comes out here in Europe..
Already reserved it though.

i just thought of something...
why did they make this game for the ds? without a guitar its different and i see as being pointless.

i can see nintendo making a Ukulele Hero with the DS. now that i would buy.

but i must say i like the the guitar piece that goes in the gba slot. its great to see that slot getting more of a use.

im dumping the game right now. it's 128 Mb and dont think that there is memory on the external card, just for the buttons.

Good thing this game is finally on the DS.

Patching user-generated songs is gonna be easy. I see myself playing this for awhile if the community is good enough.

thats what I think too and always wondered why wasn't done with EBA...

That's a good point.

However, I think it has something to do with the difficulty of actually of placing the buttons here and there, then there's the spinny thing and hold down the ball thing.

For Guitar Hero, it's just a simple chart.

No memory in the slot 2 "guitar grip". I've gone through easy, normal, and hard levels and the difficulty still isn't really high. Hopefully, expert level will be more challenging. The real shelf-life for this game will depend on hackers releasing patches with additional songs to play (similar to Daigasso BB). The song selection on this game is marginal at best.

Stray Cat Strut is awesome.
Stray Cats are awesome.
My myspace url has to do with Stray Cats.
Even though I hate MySpace.

I'll probably get it.. yeah.

I got the game today, and that guitar grip is way too small for my fingers. I find I have to use my pinky on my pick hand to pull the DS away from my hand so my fingertips match the frets on the guitar grip. If I don't do that, I get some serious aches in my wrist and fingers. I think I'm gonna modify my guitar grip to fit my hand nicely so I don't need to do such a thing.

It's pretty fun though once you find a comfortable way to play it, although the presentation could have been 100 times better (like navigating the menus, the graphic quality while not in game), as it's all very bland.

For the experienced playing though, play a few songs on Medium to get used to playing, then go straight to hard, finish that to get a good feel for the game and then tackle expert.

I was honestly expecting this game to get bad impressions across the board, but it's good to know that it's okay at best, and I'm hoping that custom songs won't be too far away.

Do you guys think its worth the 50 bucks and hows the re-playability? Last are you almost positive that this can be hacked?

I would say yes, get it. unless, of course, you won't be able to make the rent/mortgage payment this month because of it. The game has some problems, but overall, it is a good game. The song choices are questionable, but once you actually play the game, you can kinda see why they chose these particular songs. I too am having the size issues, as the grip was designed for people with much smaller hands than me.

As for replayability, yes, it has it in several areas:

1. This game can and will easily be hacked to add unlimited songs in the future.
2. The multiplayer is pretty fun as well with a lot of power-ups and attacks that make it worthwhile.
3. A sequel to this game is already in the works and should be out around Christmas time, so you won't need to buy the guitar grip hardware again.
4. It is just a neat experience playing Guitar Hero on your DS. They have done a pretty good job or representing the GH brand.

so... you have to have the grip to play? and if so.....can you buy it separatley?

Currently no you cannot buy the grip separately, you'll have to buy the game. And yes you do need it to play. I'm sure there will eventually be some button hacks, but you won't get even half of the experience like that.

I wasn't expecting much from this, but it plays pretty well. My only gripe is that a few times while playing the grip came loose, forcing me to re-power my DS (a warning screen comes up saying I was rocking too hard & have to re-insert the grip & power off).
The song list, taken as a whole, is acceptable. Naturally, there are some you'll like and some you'll hate.
Blowing into the Mic to use Star Power is pretty neat & I played multi against a friend & flamed his fretboard, it was funny as hell watching him blow into the DS like a maniac trying to put out the fire

I was hooked - but once you play through all the songs, you'll be begging for more tunes - I really do hope it's as easy to hack as everyone has hinted at. That would be awesome+1
(And please, don't lick my toes. Thanks.)
