HI DinohScene, I have to say, this is one hell of a guide you made.
I just bought an xbox 360 (never have i owned any xbox system before) and I have been reading your guide to softmod it. It is just OVERWHELMING for me lol. The only thing i know about my xbox is that it is a slim. Never did i know that in order to mod the xbox i need t o open it and do so much with it. Just the opening part was more than enough to scare me away. I'm not sure if i need to buy additional hardware for the process or not but im not sure if i should proceed with this. For someone who has had no experience with aan xbox, what would you recommend i do or where i start? The guide really is overwhelming....but fantastic at the same time.

Cheers c:

Ehh what's the MFR date on the 360?
If it's one from 2011 then you can (with a bit of luck) easily pull the DVD key out of the DVD drive by hooking it up to your PC's SATA port (click here if yours is compatible)
Then I'd suggest an Xkey.
It might be a little investment but it pays off since you dun have to burn DVD's anymore.

I have a 2010 actually. I've read your guide 3 times and still really don't know where to start. If all I need to do is open the system and connect it to my CPU with no additional hardware, than I believe I am capable of pulling it off. Where do you think I start with my 2010 xbox 360 slim.
(By the way, sorry for reviving an old thread and I appreciate your help, thank you :)

Aye even better~

Nay that just means you've got to open it up and connect your DVD drive to your PC.
Then download Jungleflasher (it comes with a manual) and extract the DVD keys.
If your SATA chipset supports it that is.
If not, you'll have to search yer Ebay for a cheapo X360 USB pro ;p

Woot! That's awesome!
If all I need to do is open my xbox and follow the guide, then I'm sure that is something I am capable of doing :)
I don't know what a SATA chipper is, but I'm still gonna give it a shot anyway.
(Anyway I can see if the SATA port for support somehow? Is there anyway to check? If not, as long as there is no harm in trying it anyway, I'll go on and proceed :)

Edit----

The only thing that is killing me in confusion now is the SATA port thingy. I have no idea what that is and I also don't know what wire to use to connect the system with my PC. Then, I believe everything is good.
Thank you!!

SATA chipset is the chipset in your PC which controls your HDD's etc ;p

Just a simple SATA cable to hook it up to your PC, use your 360 as a powersource.

So, after digging around in my laptop, I found this as my "SATA" port:
INTEL (R) ICH9M-E/M SATA AHCI CONTROLLER
I have searched online for compatibility, but cant find any answers. What do you think?

You'll have to get on Ebay to find a cheap X360 USB pro then.
Or get a USB Pro v2.
This is a connectivity kit and sata chipset in one.
Perfect to pull the DVD key out of your 360 ;]
thank you for all of your help :)
In the upcoming days, I will be busy with college but I will definitely be back to let you know how it went! Thanks again!

I have a phat mfg'd 15.8.2009. from what i gather, I have a Jasper with a BenQ. This thing has been sitting around collecting dust for about 2 years (since I got a PS3 and Wii U). I'd really like to breathe new life into the thing, but the mod process has always scared me away. I read the tutorial a few times, but I just can't figure it out, and I don't want to mess it up. What are my options? I don't really care about playing online, but I am interested in homebrew and emulators (though they aren't entirely necessary). Any insight would be amazing.

RGH would be your best choice then.
I hope you've got soldering skills as it involves soldering a few wires to some small points.
I have zero soldering skills, but I have some friends that can do it. I'd be happy with just flashing the thing. I have Sata ports on my PC's motherboard, and I'm running Windows 8.1 x64. But I don't want to have to buy a new DVD drive to burn the discs.

Hi,
just recently I got a xbox360.
I'm considering exploiting it a bit via RGH since I do not care for LIVE connection.

The question is, what do I need to have, to do this myself?
My mod supplier tells me I need a cheap coolrunner chip in order to glitch my system.
I am not yet convinced.
In my opinion I would be better off using a coolrunner pro cr3.
If I read properly I would also need a programmer?

I would love to get advice on what to order, or to even wait for the upcoming CR4?
