Hii!! I need alittle help in soft modding my wii. All I want is to play backup games, I already installed HBC so what do I do now, thank you.
Follow the guide. =) Anything you've already done will be overwritten with the newer, better stuff. Don't worry about anything you already have. Upgrade through Nintendo first if you are not already on 4.1 then follow the guide.

Deviyl,
'ive a question. You say :

I think this is valid also for other softmod guide. I've used your to softmod my Wii, but leak Gamecube backup support.

So I want to apply other procedure and modify/update my actual situation.

I've 4.0E firmware, and your setting so:
- can i upgrade in every moment to 4.1 firmware ?
- can use Wii internet service ? (wiishop, mii, etc)
- can you add another step for gamecube backup loader to you guide ?
(read more than 10 guide and your is better than all other)

Sorry for bad english, and thank you again,

m.

- If you're planning on updating to 4.1, don't wait. Nintendo could release a new update tomorrow that messes everything up. At the moment, a Nintendo update is the easiest way to get the latest version. You can still use the Wanin 4.1 updater, but so many people have problems with this it's not funny.
- Your internet service can be used like normal.
- Not at the moment. I know absolutely nothing about GameCube games and I'm extremely busy with schoolwork at this time. In the future, I plan on updating the guide to include a few more things and this may be one of them.

It's not mandatory, but why would you stay on an old SM?

Ok I installed HBC and patched the Ios and installed Cios the new revision and such. Im still on 4.0 btw, but when I try to install preload it just freezes at the disclaimer screen any help, thx for your help so far. Also Neogamma gives read error 1101 when I tried to launch a game

after i install hombrew channel, can i skip all task and go directly install neogamma and usbloader gx?

LOl you should learn to read that im not getting an error code it just freezes anyways, my wii is an LU39 maybe thats why im getting the neogamma 1101 error?

yes the first four digits of your serial number are definitely the cause of that error code?

its not that hardThis post... clearly the first part was directed toward your first problem with PreLoader, and the second part was directed towards your error.

I believe it's you who did the misinterpreting here.

And your serial number has absolutely nothing to do with the error. The error is a generic error that means it was simply unable to read the disk. I'll bet you're using DVD+R. Use -R. And in the off chance that you're already using -R, try burning them at a slower speed.

WOW Deviyl, i don't know how you do it responding to all the tards in this thread. People need to learn to read and how to follow steps.

Hello,

Great guide; I followed it exactly and now my Wii is softmodded and runs like a champ!

Just have a question, as I don't know much about this stuff; I backed up my NAND file, but my father decided to be a genius and delete it from my PC as "he didn't know what it was."

I know I need to create another copy of my NAND, but I wanted to know if it's ok to still do it now, even though I've since completed the rest of the steps in your FAQ.

Does this mean if I back up my NAND now and for some reason have to restore later, it will restore my Wii to it's current softmodded state, whereas before it would just restore to the default System menu and everything?

As you can see, I'm not quite sure what the NAND backs up, and how the restore process works

Also, now that I think about it, how would I get back to the BootMii? I'd have to go through PreLoader, correct? I dont remember it being listed under the HBC.

Thanks to anyone who can help me

A NAND backup is like a restore point on your computer. It will restore to whenever it was taken.

I figured. Well I made a new one today and I'm going to make sure that it doesn't get deleted this time.

Just out of curiosity, is there any way to un-softmod your Wii?

Thank you for the response!

There is, but it's usually unnecessary and will more often than not leave your Wii in a worse off state than it was being hacked. There's really no reason at all to make your Wii a virgin again-- and people usually try to delete stuff they shouldn't and end up with a nice paperweight in the end.

Greatest thanks to Deviyl for the tut, and to all the other posters for asking all the n00b questions before i had a chance to.

I have a nicely modded bit of kit all working as it should.

thanks again

Sy..

Hi, noob here,

I have followed your guide, and everything went in smoothly, also upgraded to 4.1E.
I dl'd a couple of games, burnt 1 to DVD, but that gave me a disc error when it was inserted (proberly because DVD+R).
But I also formatted a micro SD and transferred a game across to that with WBFS manager, but cant seem to load from it using USB or SD slots in NeoGamma.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

The SD card is formatted as wbfs, right?

It should work if it is-- unless the SD card isn't compatible. Not sure if SDHC works with NeoGamma or not. I'll look into it later.
