DS cant handle its graphics. There was a GTA for NES or was it SNES. But it was a major failer.

No, there was not a GTA for either the NES or the SNES ... where do you get such silly things from?

There was a GTA game for the GBA, though ... and for the GBC.

The machines that have had, or are scheduled to have, Grand Theft Auto titles on them :

PC, PS, PS2, PS3, Xbox, Xbox 360, DC, PSP, GBA, GBC

And why do so many of you forget that the GTA series started with a 2-D, top-down view?

There was gaming before 3-D graphics, ya know.

The DS has only 4MB of ram...
Also it only can display 120k Polygons per seconds...
Now take these things :

Cars.
Player.
Passangers.
Maybe enemies.
Cops.
World. (roads and hills and stuff)
Buildings.
And the other small details.

These alone would probably overload the ram. (or they make the textures so damn lowres that they are pretty much just colors ... )

Let alone the Polygon count of such a scene.
Also the CPU probably isn't powerfull enough to completely process the AI. You need Cops , cars , passengers and enemies. That takes a low of prozessing power , at least the cops and the enemies take alot of power.

Sorry to crush your dreams guys.

sorry to correct you but... seems you haven't payed attention to what's out on GBA and NDS already?
But have a look at the game Payback and tell me if that isn't exactly like GTA1&2.

I think he's referring to the unreleased Grand Theftendo: http://gta.wikia.com/wiki/Grand_Theftendo

from the OP's title itself I will openly say that's FREAKIN' impossible and it's not gonna happen... it's impossible enough to get some of the GTA in the DS like Vice City (VCstories) and GTA3 (LCstories) it very impossible to get GTAIV.

I should say this is a very skeptical possibility to get GTAIV in the DS, I maybe jumping though things but maybe it's an error in the printing or something but you'll never know...

Aside from technicals Bah to GTA IV. Who likes all that 3d anyway. (Well I guess everyone but me) Give me back my topdown view GTA

Well, using Pocketeers or Raylights DS Engine it would be entirely possible (even h.a.n.d could do it !).

So, the technical stuff shouldn't be a problem.

After seeing screenshots and a small vidcap of gameplay for the KH game for the DS, I believe the DS is capable of more than we gave it credit for. That being said, I don't know. The Transformers game gives it a possibility, we'll just have to see.

Don't you know most kiddies nowadays think low polygon count = poor gaming lol

It's all down to the "SSS" virus that is sweeping through the gaming community

lol, there is only one thing left to say: poor kids

Anyway, I think this time would be right to release a GTA for the DS because it is selling so well, and Take 2 said they wanna support the DS now aswell.

Offtopic... why is the kid in your sig looking at me so evil ? I doN't like that, I feel bad

personally i thin its true, if i show you this kind of list 5 month ago with assain creed and call of duty 4 you say "its fake" but these games are out, that the fact so GTA IV can come out !!

Not exactly.. both Assassin's Creed and Call of Duy had DS versions announced when the other versions were announced.. also, unlike Ubisoft and Activision, Rockstar is (still) not sold out to make ports of their games to every system available in the market

Yes I have. I have played Tony Hawk's American Sk8land and Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam. Those are small or linear levels, nothing like GTA, with it's huge, streaming levels.

I didn't say that this would be a poor game. I said all you would get is a small area (maybe you'll have to pick to go to a certain each area or something, but a 3D GTA as we know it will not fit in a 128MB DS card), top down probably.

Who said they didn't work secretly to drop the bomb now unlike the GBA GTA ?

BTW, to all these nonbelievers... the gba is able to deliver this:

Now imagine what the DS could do with the same effort putten in (pocketeers ?) ?

Yes, because I always compare sports games to free-roam crime simulators

cel shading and low poly models can be used to do more than line Mr. Hawk's pockets.
