Supposedly, this is what it does:

the new search engine improves the index size, the speed of the queries and most importantly, changes the value of search engine rankings.

Is bing any good in the first place? Isn't that just window live search engine under a new name?
Pretty much, but Yahoo has even signed a deal to use it, too. It has some interesting features you should also try like if there's a wikipedia article, you can "preview" it or whatever, though I don't know about any scripts you can use with Google search. Personally, Google searches have been more reliable for me.

Also, try this! http://www.bing-vs-google.com/

Edit: It doesn't compare caffeine though.

i see thanks for the info, hmm, even yahoo er? Guess this means that live has been improving behind my back for quite a while now.

Well there is a dutch site vinden.nl (translation: find.nl) and that one uses like 5 search engines and merge them to get the most results.

I remember when google first came out and everyone was all excited for it and in love.

I used hotbot at that time and loved it. But people asked me every time "why don't you use google" over and over and eventually I started using google.

I don't know how google got into the collective unconscious so deep, everyone started using it at once for no good reason and it just picked up steam and got better.

Now anyone who tries to take on google is going to have a hard time dislodging the whole google mindset.

Google is now an important social aspect of American culture, and I imagine it is that way in many other countries too.

No other search engine has ever, and probably will ever acquire the "Google it." status.

Well, i used hotbot and altavista in the early days, and I switched over to Google when I tried it because for the first time ever, a search engine was actually giving me what I was looking for with minimal effort. Can't say the same for hotbot or any other search engine I had used up to that point
