    Does anybody read locations?
Basically, if you have an answer respond to the thread's name.

To be able to install Google apps, you need to install at least some of them as system apps. Since this requires modifying /system, and remounting /system as read-write requires root, you can't.

Why not simply root the device and install gapps? Root commonly only takes a couple of minutes on most devices

Can I do this without a computer? My crappy Kindle refuses to connect to the computer via USB.
