Gaming Good Games for a 10 year old

Hack and slash games are alway perfect if it a 10 year old boy,
if there a girl get some Imagen crap.

Cooking Mama, Rhythm Heaven, Pokemon (any game in the series except mystery dungeon, it fails >_>), Ninja Town, Trauma Center if he/she's not a squeamish baby, Advance wars, Tetris DS, Metroid Prime Pinball, Ace Attorney series, Mega Man Star Force, Line rider, Elite Beat Agents, Diddy Kong Racing, all mario/zelda/kirby titles, and ANIMAL CROSSING!!!!! But not Picross or Layton, it'll kill him/her.

We've already mentioned Mario Kart and Diddy Kong Racing and Track Mania DS. Plus we said FFCC:EoT/RoF, Animal Crossing, and Soma Bringer for co-op. Are you even reading these...?

ya im reading the comments i just want a wide variety of games for him because hes got a 4gb card and so that i can just full it so i dont have to keep adding stuff to it because it should keep him busy for a while

i will recommend a NES game - milon's secret castle (if you can emulate it on DS)!
if any 10 year old can beat this game! that would be wonderful

Seriously, a 10 year old would probably like most DS games. 10 year old kids are generally a pretty bright bunch these days. Just stay away from the M rated games and (since you said the kid's a him) girl games and you should be good. Ask the kid what types of games he likes and get those.

There are many sites that have the game list for all DS games (I use GBAtemp's list myself), let him look through the list and have him write down all the games he thinks he might like, have him be sure to stick to (U) or (E) games so he will be able to understand them. A good idea is to have him list them by release number and title, this way it's easy for you to find and you can make sure you select the correct games as some of the release numbering between sites can be off by a number or two. Then, just go down the list and add what what HE selected (after your personal filtering, of course. If you're a DS gamer yourself, you know some of the bad games to avoid) and you will be a god to the little guy. As you fill the cart with games, be sure to leave enough free space for the save files that will be created upon the first boot each game. Figure 512K for each game, or 1meg for every two games for the save files. Try to leave enough space to have a little extra space leftover on the microSD, even after every game's save space is accounted for, between 20 and 50megs should do it. You should trim them as you go (NDSTokyoTrim will do batches of games) to save space on the microSD. Also, grab the appropriate cheat file from cheats.gbatemp.net so he can really have fun, or for if he gets stuck somewhere.

This is how I hook up my friend's kids with games and they freakin' LOVE being able to select the games themselves. Believe me, he'll spend an hour or so just selecting games and he'll have a big old smile on his face while doing it.

But then again, I have ALL the DS releases archived (on the hard drive and burnt to DVD's) and the game list printed out, so all that may seem easier for me than it may be for you. Anyway, that's how I do it.
