So I have an N3DS that is hacked with a9lh currently, about to update to b9s.

There are a lot of titles downloaded from fS that I want to remove so as to avoid any issues with 11.8

What exactly do I need to do to remove traces of them from my system?

EDIT: I should add that I would like to be able to backup and restore saves from said games if possible

It is my opinion that you keep things the way they are. I'd say don't remove your games, but if insist, at least back them up as *.cia with GodMode9 if you ever want to use play them again.

If you want to go "clean", use FBI to uninstall your games, tikSweep to remove any tickets you missed, and Cthulhu to clear all traces of your gaming activities.

If you want to go super legit, like no homebrews at all, uninstall your custom firmware:

Before uninstalling, get JKSV (or JKSM, it is often called both). This will let you put the saves on your SD card to put back in the games when you get them back on B9S. The process is:
1. Back up saves with JKSV
2. Perform uninstalls/change to B9S
3. Reinstall the games you want
4. Start them up (JKSV can't restore saves unless you have a save for the game already in place)
5. Replace the "new" saves by restoring your old ones.

This has been already answered a lot of times, you DON'T need to remove stuff previously installed via fS, as long as you stop using fS itself you'll be fine

Yes, but not all the games are blocked. Many are still available for downloads. My post link makes mention of this,.
But the number of "safe" titles is only going to decrease. It's honestly more practical to go full FBI early on.

Just keep your freeshop games, and I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that the freeshop games are good to still play online.

I wouldn't use the word safe to describe blocked.

As long as he doesn't download in sleep mode on firmware 11.8, he should be fine using freeshop so long as he avoid the ones that are blocked.

A blocked download will just crash freeShop. Nothing else.

Villain3DS is safe since it downloads to the PC and creates a CIA file
Oh, I didn't know that. I got used to freeshop.

My quote was also still in regards to the safety of freeshop. But that's a nice thing, I'll have to get on that. I just recently had trouble finding a particular title, because all links to it were down or triggered my antivirus.

When I said "safe" I was referring to the titles that weren't blocked/performing the check/whatever. But yeah, they're only going to increase the number of titles that get you banned with CDN downloaders

A lot of times antiviruses flag piracy websites/programs even if they don't actually contain a nothing malicious

Yes going online with non-legit games is still safe

Well when the site it's citing is completely different than the url assigned to the link, I tend not to trust it.

I've certainly never heard of "clearbids" until then, and it sounds like an auction rather than a file-hosting site.

Trying to download blocked titles won't get you banned. freeShop doesn't send your 3DS personal info back to the Nintendo server when downloading.

Let me clarify that last point: where you can get banned is if you download in sleep mode in firmware 11.8 because of changes in the NIM system module used in sleep mode.

Well yeah in that case you're right
