Yes, it was an old straight up Mario clone in the 80s, to the point where there were lawsuits involved.
Great Giana Sisters DS is still VERY retro 8-bit Super Mario Bros-esque, but it has enough of its own charm and power-ups to be worth the tiny 8 megs it takes up.
