Hacking ghost squad issues

just got ghost squad and then i patched it to IOS249 just like the compatibility wiki said, it runs for awhile but always freezes randomly
could it possibly be a bad burn even though i burnt it at 2x speed with imgburn
or was i suppose to patch it to something else since it doesnt really specify what to patch it to on the wiki but i assumed it meant ios249

probably a bad burn because patching it is to get rid of a certain read error...

i have the NTSC version of Ghost Squad and it runs perfectly without patching. The last time i tried it was with Wiigator's 0.3B.

I'm running PAL version with no 249 patch (burnt at max speed) on gamma, and it doesn't freeze.
