Its been 2-3 years since I last turned on my 2DS and was wondering what I would need to get everything updated?

Last thing I did if I remember was setting up Luma, I can install CIAs and all that but what was the best way to update things?

I can't launch godmode9 for nand backups or anything, I also seemed to have lost my settings icon as well, is there a way to get it back? Can't check which version my 2DS is on as well

You don't have GodMode9? First you should boot into Luma (by pressing select on boot) and see which version you have, and post it here to see if it's not too old (also your 3DS firmware). If it is, then it's pretty easy to update, you just put the latest Luma3DS files on the sd card and update the system.

Its showing Luma3DS v7.1

other options that I see if important are:
Enable loading external firms and modules
enable game patching
show nand or user string in system settings
show gba boot screen in patched agb_firm
patch svc/service/archive/arm9 access
set developer unitinfo
enable exception handlers

only the show nand is checked

Edit: where can I find my 2DS firmware? My settings title is deleted so I cant use it to check, think I did it on mistake 2-3 years ago

Edit2: would it be easier to just update the firmware on the 2ds and follow https://3ds.hacks.guide/get-started ? unless theres a firmware out there where CFW doesn't work properly?

You can follow https://3ds.hacks.guide/updating-b9s.html
Should be a simple enough upgrade.

So luma and b9s is updated? can you boot into godmode9 when pressing start on boot? and yes, you are safe to update your firmware then.

Edit: about the settings icon... how did you manage to "delete" it?

Yep, holding start boots me into godemode9 and luma and b9s have been updated

in regards to the settings being deleted, mustve deleted the title/ticket when I last touched my 2ds. Think I was trying to update luma or get away from arm9loaderhax?? when it was still a thing

yep, the only portion I guess I didn't follow was

" If, before following this guide, you already had an EmuNAND setup and would like to move the contents of your previous EmuNAND to your new SysNAND CFW, now is the time to follow Move EmuNAND before doing this section. "

other than that I did everything else on the finalizing setup page.

and Thanks for the settings thing, I got it back

I think it is worth doing a system update just in case anything else is missing (A system update doesn't just update, it also replaces missing files where required.) Though that is part of the Finalizing Setup page so you probably already got to it.

i read in a thread that it might be possible, that a system update wont restore missing files if the tickets are still present.

i thought everybody knew cocktails are like 75% ice
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Yeah but not like this.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's not like they're complaining that their Slurpee is 99% ice or something, but if the cocktail calls for "shot of vodka, shot of vermouth, shot of gin, shot of Campari, three shots of juice, squirt of lemon" and ends up being a thimbleful of booze, that's a problem.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the funny thing is cocktails in norway are only allowed to have 1 20ml shot of booze
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    so..... yeah
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
we're used to only having a thimbleful of booze

    Booo.

same thing if you want whisky on the rocks or something, you can't get a double
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but you could buy as many shots of whisky (or anything else) as you want and ask for a glass of ice and pour them in
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    it's dumb
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Maybe.
  • Veho @ Veho:
There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.
  • Veho @ Veho:
But the number of (accidental) poisonings dropped because drinking an entire package of ibuprofen pills went from "I need a new liver" to "I need a new box of Ibuprofen".
  • Veho @ Veho:
Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Usually accidentally overdose of ibuprofen here is from people taking like cold medicine then ibuprofen for a headache and the combination is over what they need
