Starting September 29th, Geoff Keighley will be hosting "Live with YouTube Gaming". It'll broadcast every Thursday at 8pm ET/5pm PT over here.

The show will include trailers, musical performers, gameplay footage and developer interviews à-la Geoff Keighley. And since it's hosted on YouTube, some popular YouTubers, like MatPat, iJustine, iHasCupQuake and Nadeshot, will feature in the show.

This appears to be a move by YouTube to take on its gaming aspect and rivalling its direct competitor Twitch. With Keighley's background and the millions of subscribers of the involved YouTubers, this show has the potential to become a phenomenal success, should it meet expectations.

So some guy has a youtube channel about video games... thanks for the info. Geez I think I'd actually care more about the ususal trailer for a Vita game based on an anime that two people in north america have seen.

    Stopped reading at Kotaku.

This looks like a very desperate attempt by Youtube to try bring any sort of interest into their lackluster streaming platform. They're also doing it wrong:

    - The reason why gaming TV channels failed is because Gamers in general spend most of their time gaming instead of looking at a clock to see when some show will start (they save this for prestigious consideration for those shows they can't just watch on Netflix). Although Streamers can run podcasts and shows on a schedule, this mostly only works out because there are people who are already on the platform and watching other things at that time, immediately before, or immediately after. Nobody is watching Youtube's streaming service, and certainly not watching most of the youtube "personalities" that are being touted here as just background noise while they work.

    - The setup of the show just sounds like an effort to schill out as much product placement and hype as they can squeeze from advertisers and their handful of indentured personalities who are always looking to sell out for a buck (and boy do they need it after the change Youtube made to monetization recently).

    - Selling out aside (although not really), I can't see anyone being that interested to watch a show that is just going to show the very same trailers that can be seen on their own... Anything that comes out in interviews is likely to be devoid of meaning beyond promotion, and most discussion will likely be without any insight in to what is happening in the gaming microcosm. It's all flash and advertising without any substance.

    - Twitch has already been doing this sort of thing to fill their "dead air" times during their convention coverage... This last point being rather poignant considering that Twitch will be having pretty much round-the-clock coverage of their own convention, including not only gaming, but also informative panels about gaming professionally, streaming, as well as discussing games that are being showcased.. the weekend this show premiers.

Nevermind the dozens of shows with similar formats which are and have been done on a weekly basis on Twitch by individual streamers who are less interested in promotion and selling out and more about talking about the hobby they actually care about... gaming.

Love Geoff, have respect for the guy, but this is just a huge NO from me. I don't want to see iJustine, I don't want to see Game Theory guy whose format he ripped off from The Game Anthropologist and made it "his own" (load of crap), I don't want to see any of the e-Celebs with their e-penis' being waved in our faces. This is not the show I want. So, thanks but no thanks.

Because it's news. I wouldn't know about it if I didn't see it here. Geoff snags interviews with industry giants like Gaben and Hideo Kojima all the time so I will at least check this show out and see what it's all about.

What's next? This isn't "news". This is something you would see on Youtube front page that 100 people would be watching to check it out. This isn't new. People have had video game related shows on Youtube for a LONG time now. This being live means jack shit.

Now we just need Mudbone to host "Live with YouTube Red" and we're set to go...

I kinda like YT but they're fucking up big time, and that's not even counting their recent ones like Heroes and the policy changes regarding content and monetisation.

I watched the first three minutes and then
    NOPE

Next they'll have a Youtube Heroes show......
It was a joke seriously don't do that.

I am so done with Youtube.
Gotta be a better competitor there somewhere.
Surprised we don't already have a video games dedicated video site with support for indies and better systems for lets players etc.

TIL GBAtemp is exclusively a (Nintendo) hacking community. Keep that in mind next time @Prans! Remember if its not about hacking (Nintendo consoles only) it's not considered news.

Edit: BTW I'm very disappointed in this (Nintendo) hacking community because the NX still hasn't been hacked. Am I supposed to PAY for Zelda? I'm an unemployed handicapped 13 year old living in an undeveloped part of Kenya and whatever other reasons I can use to justify piracy. Help me out!
