What's the way to play Gamecube games (backup) on a modded Wii?
Run GCOS on Homebrew channel?? Damn i would like it if they put the channel in the Wii..

well, the current sdml boots sdload which boots all .dol files. But you can't load a burned .iso without a hard mod

the Wii's own GameCube emulation
The Wii doesn't emulate the Gamecube.

QUOTEIt's possible that the code to read gamecube backups on the Wii already exists and won't be released by those with the knowledge to do it because of their stance against piracy.
Please stop making up stuff.

It does emulate the gamecube. Sure most of the hardware is very similar but emulation is there both on the hardware and software level. By definition the Wii would have to contain hardware/software identical to a Gamecube or portions of it would have to be emulated.

I'm not 'making stuff up'. I'm answering the OP and saying that it is possible that the code already exists to run gamecube backups by replacing the 'Wii Gamecube Operating System' with an alternate operating system (very much like GCOS on a Gamecube). If it's not out there yet it soon will be. I only stated it was possible.

First off, soft mods have been made allowing you to load Gamecube backups without a hard mod. For all you people who keep insisting on having a modchip for gamecube, your argument is no longer valid. Secondly I have tried to load GCOS using the Homebrew Channel and the only progress Ive made is a black screen with the GCOS logo. Even when I stick in a backup, I still get that same screen. Hopefully someone will decide to turn GCOS perferably the multigame version (because it has better support with the Wii's drive) into a app.

Doesn't anyone remember WHY the action replay disk was banned ? It allowed the execution of GameCube homebrew on the Wii. From what I remember, people used this to launch GCOS , inserted burned "backups" of Gamecube games, and they did not work on their Wii.
