GBC Mega Memory Card Question

So I recently found out about the GBC Mega Memory Card, though I'm not sure if it's what I'm looking for yet. What I want to do is: be able to backup/ rip a save file from Pokemon Red/Gold (any of those two generations' games) and transfer them to a computer. I'd want to edit the save file for the sake of making custom (EV trained) Pokemon... or use Gameshark codes within an emulator. Of course, I'd then want to restore the save to the memory card, and then back to the original cart. So, do I want this product?

I dont think that outputs to a PC just to itself of other carts

So I'm guessing I'd need the USB 64M Smart Card also/ instead?

you would also need USB 64M Smart card. i have both the mega memory card and the usb 64Mb smart card and i can do what you described.

Is there any cheaper way to do that? If not, I'll be getting USB 64M and the Mega Memory card.

i don't think there is a cheaper alternative. there are some cartridge readers/writers but they are all parallel port based afaik and i don't think they will be cheaper than the mega memory card ems card combo.
