Why not wait for the 3-in-1 pack to get DLDI support?


very small memory for gba games
i already have 2 slot 1 flash carts already, and the R4DS supports DLDI already, we are talking about buying flash carts for gba games only not DS games.

Concerning my review of the EZF4:
Just remember it was written when the EZ4 was supposed to be the "next big DS cart". It was manufactured for the purpose of running DS games, GBA stuff comes secondary (even if it proves to be that cart's strongest point). I did note that GBA support is pretty much perfect apart from the lack of RTC support - what more is there to say really?

the EZF4 is a good card overall for gba games, but no real time clock function puts me off and having to buy a mini SD also puts me off.

@jalaneme a few days too late perhaps but there are microSD versions, you would have to make, mod or repurpose a case though for an original model DS or GBA.

what is the price difference between the ones without rtc and with rtc (just an estimate)

do almost all gba carts work with the nintendo ds lite in terms of gba functionaility? (thinking of getting a cart just for my gba as I will upgrade to the ds lite in 1-2yrs and thus would like to have it work with the nintendo ds lite for gba games)

I've read EZF III need time to load the rom like the card with external memory....

I don't want to use the compression tool cause a think 1go is quite good to put as many roms I can play and I don't want to wait any load to have 20roms more on my card (my previous card has only 128mo).

Anyone know the loading time of the games without compression ??


There is any good card that don't take time to load or loading the game in special memory was become a standard ???

Don't know about Pokemon games. Ruby and Sapphire definitely, don't know of any others.

The price difference... EZF4 has 100% GBA compatibility, with no lags, and can be found from $35. The first card with 100% compatibility, no lags, and RTC would be the M3, at $80. Is RTC (that can be replaced with a patch) worth $45? You decide.

All GBA flashcards work equally as well on a DSL as they do on a GBA, regarding GBA games.

tbh, you get what you pay for, the EZ flash 4 mini SD has no real time clock but it's a cheap flash cart that works with gba games but requires a mini SD for memory, however the G6 lite has fully working real time clock but it's a bit pricey @ $87-$99 dollars but it's worth it with all the added extras that you get with it with intenral memory, no need for a additional memory card, the M3 lite is the same as the G6 lite but G6 lite has a better menu system and overall better package for your money, if you don't care about fitting your slot 2 device in a gba sp or a gba micro and don't care about a fugly menu that the M3 lite has then buy it, but if you want to switch between the gba sp and your DS lite then get the G6 lite, the G6 lite includes a adapter that lets you play your slot 2 device in a gba sp and micro while the M3 lite does not, the M3 lite has no internal memory and you have to buy a micro SD additionally for memory, if you already have a spare micro SD then get the M3 lite.

almost all slot 2 flash carts for the gba work on the DS lite, however some recent slot 2 flash carts have redesigned them to the style of the DS lite with a small casing, it's design is simmular to the DS lite dust cover you have on you DS lite.

if you are looking for a slot 2 flash cart that does not stick out go for the M3 lite, or G6 lite if you can afford the $87-$99 dollars. the EZ flash 4 mini SD sticks out like a normal gba game but there is a version of EZ flash 4 called the lite that has the same functions as the mini SD version but it's designed like the DS lite dust cover, maybe that is the one you want? it's not pricey either but you will still need to buy a additional micro SD for the EZ flash 4 lite, note the EZ flash 4 lite still has no real time clock. imo real time clock is needed as the pokemon games relies on it heavily, you can only catch certain pokemon at certain times of the day, there is also events in the game that can only be completed at certain times of the day, boktai is similar there is a mission where you can only complete the game at day time, you can not progress if it's nightime, yes there is a patch to fix this problem, but the clock will always be stuck at the same time forever and you will still not be able to progress.

@jalaneme the clock is not stuck but advances only when you play the game which is good enough for most things (save perhaps growing berries).

so it looks like either the m3 lite, g6 lite, or the ezflash4 lite? which ones have the largest memory? microsd's are dropping quickly in price so by the time I decide to purchase a card, the 2gig shouldnt be too expensive

are there problems with using microsd though, like certain games don't work? if so then I'll choose either between the m3 lite or g6 lite

there shouldn't be any problems using a micro SD for gba games as the flash cart only uses the external memory to save the game to memory card and upload the gba game to the SRAM of the flash cart, it's not like DS games where it's constantly streaming data, if you get a flash cart without memory built in you can add your own memory card so it will depend on what memory card you buy. if you buy with internal memory then the max i have seen for internal memory is 512mb there may be bigger but i don't know. 512mb is more than enough for me

the G6 lite is the only slot 2 flash cart i mentioned that has internal memory built in.

I believe the G6 has only 512 mbytes of internal memory (still more than enough for a good chunk of GBA goodness) whereas the others are limited only by the memory card, the EZ4 has a extra 32 or 48 mbyte depending on whether you get the lite or the deluxe respectively and to the best of my knowledge the M3 has no extra memory but that does not really matter in the long run.

GBA wise as the games (for all modern carts) are copied to a seperate memory section a slow microSD does not matter (still get a fairly nice one). Also make sure not to get one of the new SDHC cards as it will not work.

i don't know seeing as the gba scene is almost dead and it's all about the DS now most sellers will milk it for all it's worth, you think the G6 lite is expensive? lol the EZF III (which also has real time clock) is still going for $100 at some places and it was released much more earlier than the G6 lite.

You need a passcard for NDS not for GBA

EZF III cost the same price than G6 but have 1Go of memory (512mo for the G6)

But for this price you have for the G6Lite a more up to date card capable for NDS roms with a passcard

You have to see if you want it only for your micro or if you think using it with a NDS later

For the shape I don't know well the GBMicro but I think the special shape of G6Lite (like the dust cover of the NDS) will not fit in the slot and the normal shape of a GBA game is too much for you

For the shape I think EZ4Lite seem to be your best buy

the EZF III costs more than a G6 lite, i don't know where you got that from, search for it on google and you will see the prices, you cannot buy the EZF III in smaller sizes anymore you can only really buy the 4G or 8G version as thats is the only version thats avalible now and that is more expensive. the G6 lite has a separate GBA mode if you put it in a GBA and a DS mode if it's loaded in a DS with a passcard so if you have a R4DS it will load via that e.t.c the G6 lite does include a gba normal casing included, you also get 4-5 different colour casings for the DS lite, the EZF 4 lite does not include a normal gba casing adapter, it is designed only for the DS lite only, i'm not going to bother to post the links check this sites reviews for the mentioned flash carts and you will see what i mean.

Sorry. I was under the assumption that the user thinks that if he ordered the EZF4, it'll come with a GBA cart. I was tired when I typed that response and I totally forgot that the G6 lite came with the GBA cart
