With Slot-1 DS flash carts, you sometimes want to boot a GBA cart in Slot-2. There’s probably something already out there for this, but I couldn’t find one so I made a small and simple GBA mode switcher. It uses the setting you’ve selected in your DS firmware to determine which screen to run on. This is probably the shortest DS code I’ll ever write, so source is included in this post.

Been waiting to be able to boot GBA carts from the R4 without having to take it out. Depending on which screen you've choosen on the main DS menu the GBA will show on that screen. I've got mine set for the bottom screen as the lazy pixel shows up on the black border on the top screen. I just hope the R4 is thinking of putting something like this on the main menu.

This is cool. I wish i could add it to the "Other"-menu of the SC DS somehow though, right next to SuperKey

not sure about it, but since you can use the SCDS1 as a SuperKey, you could also just simply flash your DS.

My DS is Flashed and it automatically boots to Slot2. I can choose to have it boot to Slot-1 instead, by pressing [SELECT] when I turn the DS on. Having a flashed DS is backwards boot order, to having a non-flashed DS (instead, boots to Slot-1)

The source code is available at Cryptosystem's Blog

Note: I have made sure to try this application prior to posting this thread. I can confirm, that it can boot GBA binaries from slot-2 cards, on the top screen, however the display is too dim to allow one to clearly see what he's doing.

I have one question does this allow me to use the DS-X to play gba games and homebrew from it's menu by simply adding a slot-2 gba flashcart to the DS's gba slot and can I utilize the RAM of the slot-2 cart like neoflash neo2-SD/TF EZIV lite deluxe or M3 and SC for a clean opera rom stored on the DS-X to run?? is this possible???

@SylverReZ, I also heard one of the Prince of Persia games was so unfinished that it required the "24/7 online" drm so a puzzle could be done and the game could be finished. And that when the Ubisoft servers were closed the (cracked) game was impossible to finish or something like that
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, That's extra scummy. Ubisoft nowadays ship out incomplete games like Skull and Bones which was being worked on for nearly a decade now.

I like that games can be fixed after the fact, hate that it's being abused via beta tests... And DLC... I was a 7800 owner back in the day and loved Impossible Mission, turns out I couldn't beat it because it was actually impossible lol

I never knew about it at the time but a fixed version was available but you had to mail in your broken copy lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
So that version is semi rare

@Psionic Roshambo, I have a rom of the ds version of impossible mission
