When you get the message like "NO gateway 3ds card found! Please insert the gateway 3ds card to boot into gateway mode. Press A to close this message." , it means you have to update your gateway 3ds, and you can just press "A', here is a guide on how to deal with the message: How to update gateway 3ds card for the new V2.1 OMEGA
wish to help you!

In that guide the author got the message as he hadn't inserted the red card yet. jemartik has the red card inserted.

My first gateway gives the same message, its just not detected at all. Diagnostics (on an old gateway software version) would give all fail result.
The thing worked for a while, then started giving 'game card removed' type errors while playing, then eventually just stopped being detected at all. Bought another and so far so good.

You could try the 'paper trick' (folded paper in the cart slot to try to push the contacts on the gateway closer to those in the 3ds), but if its just not detected after many attempts it does sounds like faulty hardware.

I tried to have blue (and red) card in and if i press gateway mode, the console goes to home screen but when I go check which firmware im on it says 4.5.0. (so no gw3ds mark)

The gateway mark doesn't show in the settings unless you're running emunand, so that sounds normal. Emunand is only needed for eshop access.

Can you try:
-Format your microsd to exfat and copy some roms over
-Insert red gateway card
-Launch gateway mode via ds profile
-Once you are returned to the normal 3ds home screen, press select

Are the games listed?
At first I read your issue as the gateway menu always reporting 'NO gateway 3ds card found!'. If you insert the red card and then choosing gateway mode (or just launching the exploit via the ds profile) takes you back to the 3ds home screen, it sounds like you just need to press select.
