Denuvo is taking legal action against the game cracker known as “Voices38”

When I'm sceptical about the quality of a anticipated game, I try out the cracked version, and buy it afterwards to add to my steam library
I just don't play games with denuvo. I don't want that crap on my PC. I'll wait until the devs remove denuvo or there is a leaked denuvoless build, as often happens. Or I'll just play it on switch, or not play it at all.

How do you catch someone that's maybe using a virtual machine and a burner phone as a wifi hotspot to connect to a vpn which is connected to an onion network? Especially if that username is unknown and mutliple people have the same username?
If they are using windows 11 there is a unique id tied to the system. it can identify you regardless of using a vpn. Its there even if you are not using a microsoft account. Its how a recent hacker using ransom ware got caught.
so the hacker better not have been using windows 11 at all. For that persons sake, they have better be using linux.

Hence using a VM. But you're correct Windows 11 is nothing more than a giant advert and spying machine. I had it for about a day and went back to 10, But if I wanted to do anything dodgy I'd always use a VM with linux mint or similar non spying OS.

Denuvo lost by taking this action.

Not because they won't catch anyone, as both options of voices being either caught or not are valid. But because, by using that option, they show they have no other options.

If they could simply counter the crack, they would have done it before laughing at voices' face. But they can't, so that's why they resort to legal threats.

And that, ladies, gentlemen and trolls, is how Denuvo admits defeat. I raise my glass to voices for that victory.

I kinda disagree, but yea I do hate Denuvo none the less. That Voices user will be looking over his/her shoulder, staying in the shadows rest of his/her life. This may never lead to anything for Denuvo as a persay win, but it will haunt Voices and others for years to come. Paranoia alone will get them in the long run.

totally. also using some public wifi where there is no cameras and far from where you live.

This is almost certainly symbolic, unless they find a way to identify him, and that he's within jurisdiction for them to apply charges and fees nothing will come of it, it's just a way to seem tougher than they really are.
Getting the default judgment will allow Denuvo to demand that Reddit, Valve and Discord not only reveal what they know about those account(s), but get those accounts banned. Voices38 has already laughed off the lawsuit, likely indicating that he lives somewhere safe and/or was smart about not leaving a digital trail. Or he's US-based, cocky, and about to go down.

I know who I'm rooting for! Fck Denuvo and fck DRM!
And even that isn't as big of a win as it would seem since they will just create new accounts.
