Just finished downgrading, worked like a charm (even if my heart skipped some beat when booting into the menu)!!!

9.2 to 4.5 successful
Day one 3DS (Cosmo black)
Region: Europe

Apparently the EMUNAND works on 9.2FW, can anyone confirm this? If this is true then whats the point in the downgrade tool, if EMUNAND works on the 9.2 FW??

It's not a problem anymore :)

Save crypto 6.x games can be played on 9.2 and 4.5.
Currently playing Pokemon ORAS on my 9.2 2DS (The game has been started on 4.5 3DS)

Ah, but I mean, I have 2 consoles (One in 9.4 and another in 7.2 with Emunand 9.4), I started playing a retail ORAS using the 9.4.0 SysNAND console, I can still play it using GW classic mode, guessing its because the Sysnand base is 7.2 (Gateway mode says the save is corrupted because it still uses the old save method). iiuc If I downgrade from 7.2 to 4.2 classic mode won't have access to the 6.x crypto and won't be able to read ORAS anymore.

(Hopefully I'm wrong since this is the only thing stopping me from doing the downgrade).

Ok so i have a 3DS XL EU, got it pre 4.5 is now on 9.2.. just a few questions for those who downgraded.

What version does the EU FW downgrade to ?
When you have downgraded do you need to re-install the exploit using the blue card ?
Do you need to backup new nand and then create Emunand again ?

and where would you put the Gateway.dg file ? on the internal SD right ?

1-It seems US downgrade to 4.2 and EUR downgrade to 4.5.
2.Yes. You need to install for first time. After that you dont need blue card to use ds profile exploit.
3-Afaik emunand is seperated from your sysnand. You dont need to create another emunand.
4-Yes.Big card from 3ds itself.

I have EmuNAND installed, and my 3DSXL sysNAND is still at 4.4.

Used the browser method to launch Gateway Mode on sysNAND, and it brought me to the main Gateway screen. Will not boot into Gateway Mode without my red Gateway card.

My question is just getting buried so third times the charm?
anyone with a hardware mod can tell me if we can downgrade to 4.5 CFW by govanify without a gateway card?

It does work but the 9.2 FW requires you to have internet access to launch the exploit. This also means your going to get update nag on your 9.2 sysnand. you cant format your sysnand because it requires internet

4.5 can launch the exploit with the blue card or internet. Also if you get update nag you can format your console.

also downgrading lets you use the blue card for ds games.

I'm surprised they didn't make the red card required. Now many people can downgrade their console for any other 3DS flashcart
Except the only issue I'm having now is that some downloaded titles give me a "the SD Card has been removed" error. Maybe it has to do with the save encryption stuff in later firmware versions? I tried Steel Diver: Sub Wars, Rusty's Real Deal Baseball, and Kirby Fighters Deluxe... I also tried for the Bravely Default demo, which did work. I would try for other software titles, but I'm afraid I'll lose my saves (if and when I decide to go back to 9.2 with my SysNAND backup.) I risked it with Kid Icarus: Uprising because I accidentally wiped my save from it the other day, but it worked and I think it comes with a firmware 3.0 update. However, I think Gateway is smart with one thing. Everyone who cheats them (like me) by downgrading and not getting a Gateway card can't use EmuNAND (I think.) Plus, like I found out, we can't boot certain downloaded games.

So, some people seem confused, so I'll post some clean-up.
1. Have emunand set up and UNLINKED.
2. US downgrades you to 4.2
3. Both exploits work
4. You need to make a sysNAND backup on 3.0.x before you downgrade, plus, be safe kids, use protection. Do the backup on the version you're downgrading on.
