Hardware Gaming PC specs

I'm looking to buy a desktop PC for some little gaming needs ;) I found one with the following specs:

Code: 
Hexa-Core! AMD FX-Series FX-6100 6 x 3600 MHz
8192MB DDR3 1333 RAM
1000GB S-ATA HDD
AMD Radeon HD 6670 2048 MB DVI/HDMI/VGA
ASUS Mainboard mit USB3

It costs 399€ and I don't want to pay much more. What do you think about it? Is it good enough for heavy games and emulators like dolphin?

How does the AMD CPU compare to Intel CPUs? Is that one comparable to i3 or i5?
 
AMD's CPUs are lower-end, they haven't been able to match Intel in performance for like, seven years now. They do excel in price however, but Dolphin doesn't give a fuck about price. :P

See if you can find a machine with less RAM (4-6GB is enough for stuff like that) and a better CPU for emulation.

While that GPU is fine for emulation, it's not for heavy gaming, if by "heavy" you mean "the latest game at the highest resolution+quality".
 
I see, thanks. I read about the difference between AMD and Intel CPUs. The question is, how good is this PC? Will I be able to play current PC games with medium - good settings?
 
For normal gaming, the i3 (3rd gen) easily beats the fx6100 (yeah, even though it's 2vs.6 cores)
Though for emulator performance, the result may topple as the no. of cores may make a difference.(I'm not sure)
But honestly, you can opt for a fx4100 and a better graphics card and still get better performance.

I recently bought my second Pc from them.

What is your screen resolution? What AM3+ motherboard are you planning to get?

Here is the thing about FX processor, like Rydian have said it hasn't had the chance to outperform comparable Intel processor in gaming. It does outperform in multi-threaded applications slightly though gaming is not multi-threaded to begin with. FX processor also needs better motherboard because they draw more power than Intel counterpart, and cheap AM3+ motherboard aren't suitable for them.

I also noticed that you picked DDR3-1333 to go with FX processor. Unlike Intel, AMD processor needs higher RAM speed to boost performance.

A Core i3 does extremely well in gaming and emulations. Pair it with a cheap H61 or H77 motherboard and you got a solid gaming system there.

• ATI Radeon HD 5750

Would I be able to play current games with this? Would it be possible to install newer CPUs on this mainboard?

How big of a jump in performance would that be?
 
Quite a huge jump, but the 5750 isn't much to write home about. Why not build your own PC? It's really easy, and we can help you.
 
I know building a PC is better, but I can get that one including a 23“ LED Monitor for 280€. That's why I'm tempted.

Avoid AMD CPUs, they suck.
Anyway you're not getting much of a gaming PC for €399, but apart from the CPU it looks okay.
 
Regarding that used PC: I used a local service called Tweakers.net Pricewatch for the prices (new), will take the cheapest or last known and will take off 25% or so.

• Asus Mainboard M4A87TD_EVO -> €106 (last known)
• AMD Phenom II X4 3,2 GHz Black Edition -> €125 (last known)
• Corsair CX 500W -> € 55,20
• 12GB DDR3 RAM -> not sure what configuration, so guessing at € 80
• 500 GB S-ATA II HDD -> € 56,20 for a WD.
• ATI Radeon HD 5750 -> € 122 (last known)

Total: EUR 544,40
Minus 25%: EUR 408,30
I would say it's a pretty nice deal you got there. Current games should run fine on it, maybe a GPU swap.. PCSX2 and Dolphin should run great. :)

Yeah I took notice to that after I posted. I thought this was one of the many general how's this PC build threads. Sorry bout that SpaceJump.

Home File serving/media streaming is about all I was looking for.
