Hacking Games with 4.1.0 Firmware or Higher

Hey,

I recently bought a used Wii U for a good price. However when I try and update the system I get the infamous 162-0002 and 105-3102 error code. I was reading a bit and saw some talk about games containing firmware upgrades on the disc. Are there games with firmware 4.1.0 or higher out? and would this work to solver my problem?

MK8 has 4.1 - probably aren't a whole lot out other than that seeing as 4.1 is only 3 months old. So any games probably released in the last month might have it. MK8 has 4.1 for sure.

Sounds like you possibly have a vWii brick on the hand?

Well the person I got it from couldn't update it. The hard drive was wiped. I have mario kart 8 right now and it won't install the update.

Right now I am thinking I might get a wii game, try and get hackmii/homebrew on there, then install the proper iOS files.

I fixed it, with help from airline38 at GBATemp.

Here's the kicker - if it isn't ISP related (and mine wasn't, I have FIOS), it's because of a corrupt or tinkered-with iOS. Usually iOS36 or iOS58. The real kicker is that plenty of LEGITIMATE games/programs screw with iOS58, and iOS36 is the most commonly modified one, if you've done even a LITTLE bit of homebrew.

The solution? Add iOS236, 249-251, and then load 251 with anytitle deleter and DELETE iOS 36, 56, 57, and 58. Yes, that is scary because it's tough to get homebrew reinstalled once those are gone. HOWEVER, the WiiU updater actually unpacks the vWii, looks to see if you have bad iOS'es, and crashes if you do. If you DON'T, it just installs new ones for you!

So in reality the solution took about 2 minutes. And now I'm completely patched and EVERYTHING works.

So you might want to add to your tutorial that if all else fails, actually GETTING RID OF the problem iOS'es helps.

We've validated that the updater does NOT care if you have HBC installed, it doesn't care if you have iOSes above 200. It only cares that you have COMPLETELY UNTOUCHED iOSes under 200.

Yep, good luck with that. Like I said, it can be a vwii brick depending on what they did with it. Here's to hoping they at least have a CIOS and didn't do something stupid like patch 58.
