Hacking Games wanting to update?

So, we updated our Wii to 4.2 using the "modify any wii 4.2 and below" guide on this forum, and it worked perfectly (using discs, not usb). Pal Wii, about 3 years old.

Over Christmas period we bought some new game - Biggest Loser USA and Just Dance. But when we put the discs in, it says it needs to do a software update.

How is this possible? I thought that the 4.2 homebrew guide would mean that games wouldn't try to update?

Is it safe to update? What can we do? Can we run these games?
