Games like The Guardian Legend

I liked this game very much, not only the gameplay itself, but also image of the main charcter was pretty appealing to me.

I usually don't do Top-down shooters, but when its mixed with something else, it can be enjoyable.
So I wanter to ask if there is some more games like The Guardian Legend. I've found bunch of standards shooters, but the only thing that got close so far is Sigma Star Saga.

Any good suggestions out there?

Sigma Star Saga is about it AFAIK. I didn't really dig either, I would recommend Shadows of the Empire, but it's not really the same.
