GCN Gamecube PSU buzzing noise

My gamecube PSU makes buzzing noise when it's turned off, when i turn the console on, the buzzing goes away. Why is that?
 
It's either coils or caps going bad. If caps do go bad (typical in high-heat), they will filter less and less noise and keep buzzing until the capacitor is dried up. You can take it apart and recap it if you'd like, it's not a hard job.

Fuck recapping 3rd party crap better to just buy an official PSU
 
The components may be absolute junk, but a board design is a board design...
No guarantees about the board design either, cheapo power supplies are often missing important safety components and don't have enough separation between the high voltage and low voltage side, and those are a part of the board design itself.
 
You could probably also just get a good standard 12V power supply and make an adapter or solder the correct cable to it
