why cant they make just plain old solid black or silver and if they do im sorry i guess didnt look into it hard enough

If you just want a basic one with a solid color, you can probably find old used faceplates, clean them up, and just paint them. These are more stylized options. I'm not saying they don't carry them, I'm just pointing out an alternative if they don't.
