After years of hunting space pirates, alien insects and metroids, it looks like there's one bug that can defeat Samus -- or, more precisely, one glitch in Metroid: Other M. IGN reports that players have encountered a bug that makes it impossible to complete the game.

As IGN puts it "if the door on the far side of the lava pit in Sector 3 after you leave the desert refinery via the elevator is red, you're stuck." The offending door can be seen in the image above. Nintendo is aware of the issue but there is currently no solution to this problem.

According to YouTube users kNIGHTWING01, the glitch is caused by saving the game after beating the area boss for the third time. Apparently, if players save the game after beating this boss but before opening the door in question, it will remain locked and cannot be opened. Should this occur, the only way to fix the glitch is to load an older save file or start the game over from the beginning (unskippable cutscenes and all). See a video of the glitch above.[/p]

This does not look good for Geoflcl, the notorious save-after-every-single-little-thing person...

Well, it's a good thing this is being made known, then, eh?

Nor for Monkat, the notorious save-after-every-single-little-thing person...

I beat the game and did not encounter this bug.

I almost want to play it again now, just to try it for myself.

Oh well, something like this happened in Twilight Princess too.
Wasn't there a game breaking bug in Paper Mario (Wii) too? Seems like they're getting sloppy.

Takeshi! I've never seen you in a year! I think.

Well, lots of games have bugs in them, and some happen to be game-breaking.

What was the bug in Paper Mario Wii?

Another game breaking reason why the game gets a lower score than a 6. Its just terrible, how could it have gotten passed!!!!

Because none of the testers during a full playthrough (not just skipping from place to place) happened to save at that point, probably because they had no reason to.

Bugs happen. Most people won't even notice it. The game deserves an 8.

Wait so you've got to beat the boss on your 3rd time then save? Well you must really suck if it takes you 3 tries to beat a boss

This reminds me of the game breaking glitch in Twilight Princess.

what is that?

If you save in a certain room at a certain time and turn off the game then when you turn it back on you're stuck there.

Is that what you talking about?
