Hey everyone!

I am on a launch model (literally midnight release pickup) switch

I am assuming mine is not patched but I will check the serial later.

If it is NOT patched and I update my Sysnand to 8.0.1, I am still safe for a possible CFW in the future correct?

Thanks!

Essentially I just want to know if I am missing out on anything that can happen in the future if I update my switch to 8.0.1

Most important step first: do a full NAND backup. Then think about anything else... :D

You should use the CFW on your current firmware and update using ChoiDuJourNX using the AutoRCM function. That way you will not burn efuses, which means you can downgrade later on back to the firmware version you are currently on. This way you will miss out on nothing and have the best of both worlds.

I am on SX OS with 8.0.1 but my efuses are on 4.1 level. So I can always go back and use whatever nice exploits come along for that firmware version or above. B-)

1. do a full nand backup
2. update your firmware using the homebew ChoiDuJourNX (its offline updated and it will allow you to downgrade later if need be) i.e theres a web exploit (warmboot) coming for up to fw. 7.0.1 so being able to downgrade is ideal
3. dump your keys using the lockpick_RCM payload can be used to backup your games , install nsp files etc. you will need to do this for every firmware update
4. you can get sx os if you want play from HDD, xci loader, ftp access, backup/installer your games from cart or eshop - but i d have a Emunand setup for offline activity. I d setup it up after step 2 if ur planning to get sxos

Yes, if you want to run deja vu then don't burn your fuses. Upgrade with choidujournx and firmware you find on the internet, enable autorcm & use a dongle to turn your switch on every time.

But I thought Deja Vu was for patched switches only?

No. Patched switches can only use deja vu, but there is nothing stopping you from using deja vu on an unpatched switch.

Some people want to leave their switch on an old version, use deja vu instead of a dongle and then have emunand let them run newer games.

I have left my fuses at factory state because I may wish to do this, but I haven't decided yet. It seems like it will be too much hassle.

So on an unpatched switch, you can’t use deja vu on fw8+?
Well patched or unpatched doesn't matter with regards to Deja Vu; its a warmboot exploit chain that is dependent on the firmware. It was fully patched out in firmware 8.0 so no Switch console can run it on that firmware version or higher.

If patched switch stay on the factory firmware as not long and it will be supporting 4.x, 5.x up (8.x excluded) needs more work as parts of the exploit are patched...
Simple is you update to 8.0 it’s killed so you won’t have it, where as 7.x down it’s said will be able to be ported.
I have a patched unit and it’s sitting on 4.1 until I can hack it.

A lot of games isn't working for me: (yoshi, wargroove, tetris 99, and a lot of other nsp) . Mine is an ofw 8.0.1 picked switch...

\Is your Switch unpatched or patched ? Check here:

Make sure you format 32gb or above with a fat32. Don't used exFat.

You need to jailbreak it at first. Here:

https://github.com/Atmosphere-NX/Atmosphere

and then you will need sig patches.. Get this:

I think i not properly expressed myself:
I already did jailbreak using atmosphere 0.8.9 via kosmos sd files with enabling sigpatches check box, so the patches are on sd card already:
-installed some nsp using tinfoil usb 0.2.1 with pc tool to install via usb directly on console nand (ns-usb loader 0.4, great tool by the way)

Kosmo sd file ? Nah. A clean version works fine for me.. Perfectly fine. Something must be missing. I don't used Kosmo sd files. I use clean version which I posted link above. Then I grab sig patches and overwrite it. Everything's fine.

kosmos dont change anything, its clean version of atmosphere withou any decreases: only have some extra stuff like add homebrew directly on the proper folder structures, nothing really modified here.

Anyways, i see that the older sigpatches of mine are labeled 8.0.0, and this one you linked, some "anon" guy labeled 8.0.1, i will put these on see if works. Thanks!

EDITE: WORKING! awesome

That's true about Kosmos but I prefer a clean version because sometimes Kosmos came with outdated like sig patches. That's why I highly recommended to get Atmosphere version and sig patches separately for the better result.

Anyway.. Glad that it resolved your problem. Have fun!
