Popular animated series from the Simpsons creator Matt Groening has been cancelled again, it previously managed the feat of being cancelled and revived a few years later, albeit after some feature length episodes/films, on another network. Though most do not consider the new episodes bad there was a decided shift and many may not have returned to see them.

After 14 years — and seven seasons — of missions, the Planet Express crew is about to make its final delivery (again) with the news that Matt Groening’s Futurama ends Sept. 4 after an improbable run of 140 episodes.

REAAAAAAL bad news imo. The newest seasons were different, but still good. It's rumored that Adult Swim is trying to grab it though, so maybe it's not the end.

Wait for it.....

My sentiment exactly DiscoStewSM.

The show was on such sporadic times and days on Comedy Central and it still irks me that Fox (Global here in Canada) continues to air Bob's Burgers and the trio of Seth McFarlane rehashes rather then something that is actually good. Futurama was actually pretty good on it's second go around, it just wasn't on the right network to get proper exposure and air times kept getting bumped around badly. While The Simpsons quality of writing has gone on a landslide, at least Futurama was pretty good.

To be honest, I'm not that bummed by this. Believe me, I love Futurama; I've obsessively watched and rewatched the original run more times than I count. But to be honest, the new episodes were something of a mixed bag. There were some standouts, but a good deal of absolute clunkers, and a lot of just mediocre, laughless episodes. I hate to admit it, but I just kind of lost interest after awhile.

Every show has to come to an end, and with the original 4 seasons, the movies, and the Comedy Central stuff, Futurama has had a pretty long run. Come on, Groening - if you're going to keep The Simpsons plugging along for all eternity, at least let Futurama die gracefully.

I think this show should win an award for being cancelled the most times. Hope Adult Swim can get it, I know they'd treat it right, just like they did King of the Hill

Exactly that.

It's a shame they favored Cleveland show instead of King of the Hill cause King of the hill is one of the very few I really really liked.
I hope that Futurama will continue on Adult swim.

Well at least Cleveland Show has been cancelled now too.

I never really understood what was so good or funny about this show and I have the exact same thoughts about the Simpsons...

It's really just a hit or miss for non fans for both shows. Basically, if a non-fan watches certain episodes of each, they won't like the series that much. The problem is that with Futurama, about 65% of the episode are like that, making the majority of newcomers to the series not like it much.

Ahh I see well that's a shame :/ I know what it's like to have shows like that cancelled early. At least Futurama was able to somehow come back from the dead though.
