fusée gelée -- coldboot proof-of-concept for the Tegra X1

DWOUcCQU8AEMUEb.jpg DWOUZnCVAAAb2jJ.jpg Thank's to @ktemkin and all Reswitched Team[prebreak]1[/prebreak]:wink::wink:

I'm super pleased to tease "fusée gelée", @reswitchedteam's proof-of-concept coldboot execution hack-- with which we join the growing ranks of those with unpatchable Tegra X1 bootrom bugs.
Quick video of it in action on a Switch: https://youtu.be/ik04jn0obag

I'm willing to bet that there will be a free hack released at/before TX releases their mod.

Everybody is hoarding it, waiting for TX to make the first move.
Once TX releases, f0f and Reswitched will release the coldboot hack too.

But, a little birdy tells me all coldboot hacks for the Switch require additional hardware. That's the secret everybody is hiding for now

Reswitched and f0f have both stated theirs are software based, or at least f0f explicitly stated theirs required no hardmod because it's software based. Your birdy likely has bad sources

Yeah it's software based. But it still requires additional hardware.

Remind me when it's out, you'll see.

Even in Kate's video you will notice 2 things:
1. Backcover is removed
2. Backcover is still covering something up

These 2 key points give you a hint

Or it could be opened because they are devs and often use hardware to help debug software. There are plenty of reasons console devs would have their switch taken apart

Except if they never release their free alternatives, all it does is push more traffic to the things that actually release, even if they are a paid product
Lol exactly, I'll gladly pay TX to have it rather than praying some selfish dudes hoping for a release.

Of course if they release it I'll go for the free one too!

They are wording it very carefully. If you read Kate's tweet, it says 'No modifications' to the Switch itself.

It does not say you don't need additional hardware. Because you do need additional hardware, which does not modify the Switch.

When it gets released I will be back here, saying "Told you so". :)

May I ask (maybe again) why switch exploit names are on french?
I'm not complaining, I think it's better than *hax, I'm just curious
Totally off-topic question, but why a lot of Switch names related to hack are in french ? "jamais vu", "fusée gelée", "atmosphère", ... (I know Atmosphere is also an english term, but in the readme on GitHub it is written with an accent on the 'e', which is the French form of this word)
Perhaps most members are French, or they like French, or they code it in French /s, who cares?
The hack could be called "Mamma Mia", "Pinche Cabrón" or "Tristeza não tem fim" for all I care, as long as it works it is all the same.

Technically, cryptocurrencies aren't illegal, as long as you don't use it for criminal activity. If you sign up with an exchange, and that they get a tip from law enforcement, they have the right to freeze your assets.

Nigeria's central bank did make crypto illegal before, until last year they lifted the ban. Always make sure to check before you exchange. ;)
