Hi, can anyone help me with this, If I run Homebrew Channel/wiimednafen or retroarch for example they run in a 4:3 box in the centre of my widescreen TV also the same on the gamepad screen, somehow last night I managed to get them to run in 16:9 stretching the picture to full screen, this was both on the TV and the Gamepad, I didn't change the video mode of my Wii u or anything like that (running @ 1080p).

Can anyone help with this please as its driving me nuts

Question, why? They look best in the aspect ratio they were made for instead stretched and distorted out over a 16:9 aspect ratio. At least in my opinion.

Is there not a setting in the emulator configuration files to set the aspect ratio?

EDIT: In fact, I'm 100% certain most if not all emulators on the Wii have an aspect ratio option. If you can't find it in the app it self, look for the config file and modify it manually.

nvm found the solution, seems its something to do with the last update, and there is a channel forwarder that fixes the 4:3 ratio of the Homebrew channel, the wii-u thinks that its a VC title and forces it to 4:3, so no idea how I managed to get it full screen last night

the first time it will pull up fine, if you want to play VC games in widescreen just use a loader and load from there.

Hey there. I just recently started messing with these games as it really isn't in my side of the field. Why not learn though? And video games seem to be pretty beneficial for me. Anyways, off this tangent and onto your problem. I had the same frustrating thing happening to me. I'd load up the Homebrew Browser and there would no longer be a "full screen" display, as if I changed the resolution, where everything was 'centered' on my HDTV and Wii U remote. I did find a fix that works for me, however. It is necessary to have WiiFlow USB Loader installed as a selection on your Homebrew menu for this to work. Load up WiiFlow from the Homebrew menu, and if you notice, it will load up in full screen mode. (if for some reason it doesn't, I'd disregard the rest of this post) After you're in, click the 'home button' on your Wii Remote. Click on the circle that has 12 small boxes (on the screen), and lastly, click on the home button circle on the screen. You should then see a selection that says "exit to". Click on that and you MUST exit back to the Homebrew Channel. If you notice, the screen will retain its "full screen" resolution and the image on your TV/monitor will no longer be distorted. With this little loophole, you can switch between apps on the Homebrew Channel, while still keeping that "full screen" resolution. The only thing is, when you exit the Homebrew Channel itself and reenter, you'll have to do the same thing over again and each time you go in. In my opinion, it is well worth it as it only takes 20 seconds (including loading time) at the most to have everything displayed properly. You know what they say, "A stitch in time saves nine." :) I JUST read that you managed to fix the ratio but didn't realize how. Well, here is one way that should work. Good luck bud.

What's the point of "confirming" games you know will get released. Like Nintendo "confirming" a Zelda sequel. "We can't be sure Nintendo is working on a new Zelda game, or if a new Zelda game will ever be released, until they officially confirm it."
