Fuck AI art

It always looks and sounds the same, if I come across a YT channel that uses AI voice... Pause, and leave.

Ugh, i really hate when i want to watch a video and i realize how bad the voices sounds like.

I watched a video from FastGoodCuisine the other day and I kept wondering why Mr Beast sounded so emotionless in the video as it was a collab video...

YouTube deciding that hey I'm French and i would rather want to hear an AI voice dubbing Mr Beast instead of actually hearing his voice.
I really hate the AI auto dubbing feature they implanted.

I hate to be that guy but to be fair you DID say, precisely, "Ask any artist in any field who inspired them. You can ask AI the same thing." I do agree with your point about all art being partially derivative, and I think his attack was unnecessary. The fact 'reference' specifically was brought up from that shows he's able to mentally figure out what you meant so I don't know why he's hung up on linguistic pedantics.

See, by avoiding exactly copying unique styles, it becomes this dry and bland "AI" garbage you can identify from 10 miles away, and again, that's perfectly fine. It's the same thing with political situation - let them wear their hats and erect monuments of days past, so we can CLEARLY see whom and where to avoid.

Unfortunately, art styles cannot be patented, only specific representations can. So both AI and humans can copy them without consequences.

Artist here. (Although I've been on a break for a bit more than a year.)

Tired of seeing people demonize AI while it's users with bad intents that should really be blamed.
While of course, it's nice to be paid for drawing, I don't think the people who need a quick profile picture for Discord, a forum, or something should be spending 30+ bucks on me if they can't afford it. Same goes for full illustration if the goal is innocent (If you want to quickly turn an idea into a picture, you shouldn't be spending 250+ bucks on an artist.). As an artist, I embrace people's ideas and creativity, and before AI, not everyone had the skill to just turn their ideas into something tangible. I don't want to "gatekeep" a way some people have to share a bit of their mind.

Now, things are a bit different if you want art for stuff that's meant to be important, for example, a reference sheet of your character, or maybe art for a commercial project or important event. This is when you really should consider getting a true artist to work on your ideas. And even then, if you struggle explaining to the artist what you want, well, AI could be good to give them an idea of how you picture things.

Companies trying to replace humans with AI can fuck right off no matter the case.
And people trying to pass AI art as their own creations can fuck off as well.

A last thing, AI for people who already have skills in a specific thing can actually boost productivity quite a lot. While I currently don't do it myself, I've considered using it to turn extra rough sketchs into usable poses/skeletons (keeping-them sketch-like) to then work myself into real art. Of course it isn't as good as doing everything yourself, but it can help gain time and give you a hand (With more or less fingers lol) in aspects of art you struggle with, such as perspective, posing or humanoid proportions.

Just like how people who really want authentic paintings still buy authentic paintings, people wanting or needing authentic digital art will continue to get authentic digital art.

Nearing 40, I saw the world changing when internet popped up in the 90s, saw getting it wide spread in the early 00's. I saw the world once more changing, with the rise of social media a few years later.

Now once more, new technology is reshaping our world in the form of AI. And like all what came before, it will be for better and worst.

But AI is here to stay, and failure to embrace it will leave you out of touch with society.

I was always good in writing. Poems, stories, but I especially loved writing songs. However, I was never good in creating music, or singing. Now thanks to AI, I actually can bring my music to life. In 8 months, I went from 0 to nearly 100.000 subscribers on Youtube, with noone even ever commenting or noticing the music and voice is AI.

Same for game creating. I was good at coding, but not at creating assets. I always had to buy expensive assets. Now I can get almost all assets through AI generation.

All in all, it has been life changing for me and many others.

But, it does come with dangers. AI videos and pictures are getting so realistic, and will be used for propaganda and own agenda's, manipulation the mass.

And yes, some arts are in danger of becoming absolete. It's sad, but it's a natural cycle that comes with technological innovation.

Owning the rights to an entire style would be a disaster for creative works everywhere. Where is the line even drawn? (pun not intended)

with ai I use it to make effortless drawings that i dont feel that an artist would draw but i dont use it daily, if i want to get an image i will go to Google Dot Com and search up "[whaever]" on Images.
also what is with gbatemp and arguing a lot? like yeah its fine as long as its respectful but some people need to learn to agree to disagree (including my past self. I'm not going to pretend I don't fall under this too)

It's not taking any jobs, of ACTUAL and capable artisans, and it never will.

True. Human artists understand their own strengths and weaknesses to others, as well as interaction with one another, and not AI as it needs to learn on a set of algorithms. So my point stands, AI is not 100% successful at replacing artists, and I doubt it will kill other people's skills.

Some of what I've seen generated is extraordinary. But I wouldn't really call it art. Any of it. Art is supposed to be an original expression and created with emotion and heart. This AI stuff is necessarily derivative and soulless. But still pretty cool stuff sometimes. I think we just need a new, universally adopted name for it. (not 'slop' lol)
