hi all,

so I just started noodling with my first Pokemon game (Platinum) and I was curious about online battling someday.

it says you need a friend code to do that but I'm curious, wouldn't everyone who is using this copy of the ROM have the exact same friend code? thus, ruining (or at least highly jeopardizing) playing online via a friend code???

the only thing I can possibly imagine is if the friend codes are somehow generated in conjunction with the actual DS hardware in which case I (assume) would be good to go.

so can anyone shed a little light before I bother trying to actually learn this Pokemon business?? =)

thanks!

NO!
The servers make a FC for each Nintendo DS, so if you play on your DS, you'll have a different code than for instance mine.

some additional info...

when you log into the wifi the fc is stored in the save file. you can use the same rom on the same flash kit on the same ds, if you delete the save file you will get a new friend code. it is not fixed relation to the game header and the ds mac address, stored info comes into play. although these factors may play a roll in what gets stored, i'm honestly not sure as i never botherd to research it to that extent.

I was in a managerial position once and wanted to chew my leg off.
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
If I had to guess it's probably around $80 a person? Cheese is $20 worth before shipping. Wine I can't say but I'd imagine probably 20 a bottle, plus shipping.
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
Management is a path I may consider. I'm not hard set on it and I don't know it's what I want to do, but the option is on the table.
  • kenenthk @ kenenthk:
They made you pay for it?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
Oh, no, this was shipped to me from work. Free for me
  • kenenthk @ kenenthk:
Guess it's worth it if you get a pay increase and it's mostly all virtual
  • kenenthk @ kenenthk:
You may just get to hear the hey your workers a complete moron to where you then need to pamper the customer
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
Virtual, hardly. Almost entirely in person. Pay increase, from what I have heard it could legit double my pay.
  • kenenthk @ kenenthk:
Then stock up on powder and
    diapers for customers
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
    Me as a manager probably
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
idk I don't think I'd be good lmao
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
Despite, uhh... now two regional managers pushing me in that direction
  • kenenthk @ kenenthk:
It's usually the one who never want it that get it that's how cooperate

"I apologize for the inconvenience this oversight caused you and your clients."
  • Veho @ Veho:
"I agree that the tech is indeed a moron."
  • Veho @ Veho:
The tech being me under a different username because of staffing issues.

Chat Operator: I am now connecting you to a supervisor
  • kenenthk @ kenenthk:
Same Operator: Hello I am the operating supervisor
  • Veho @ Veho:

  • Veho @ Veho:
And you will too, Sickly :teach:
  • Veho @ Veho:
See if you still want to be a manager after reading that.
